JOHN SAMUEL AND ELIZABETH (EATON) SAGO

John Samuel "Sam" Sago was born 12 January 1896 in Elvins, St. Francois County, Missouri. He was the son of Joseph H. and Martha Mae (Clanin) Sago . He served in World War I, enlisting 22 July 1918 at Farmington, St. Francois County, Missouri. He was a Private 1rst Class, Co. C, 69th Infantry, U.S. Army. He was honorably discharged 29 January 1919 at Camp Funston, Kansas. He worked 42 years for the St. Joseph Lead Company, retiring 1 February 1961.

On 10 October 1917 he was married to Elizabeth Allie "Bettie" Eaton. She was born 26 January 1901 in St. Francois County, Missouri. She was the daughter of Gallant and Ida (Kanawarf) Eaton.

John Samuel Sago died 19 February 1963. Elizabeth died 18 May 1962 at the Bonne Terre Hospital, Bonne Terre, St. Francois County, Missouri. She is buried at Parkview Cemetery, Farmington, St. Francois County, Missouri.

They were the parents of eight children:

(1) Ida Mae Sago was born 5 December 1919 and died at birth.

(2) Samuel Levy Sago was born 31 August 1920 and died at birth.

(3) Naomi Lucille Sago was born 2 July 1921 at Elvins, St. Francois County, Missouri. She married Orville Arthur Oelson.

(4) Gladys Elizabeth Sago was born 7 October 1923 at Elvins, St. Francois County, Missouri. She married Harley Delmar Davis.

(5) Elmer Leroy Sago was born 22 July 1926 at Elvins, St. Francois County, Missouri. He married Mary Frances Flanery.

(6) Betty Jean Sago was born 13 October 1928 at Desloge, St. Francois County, Missouri. She married Norman Keith Mayberry.

(7) Wilma Louise Sago was born 15 December 1932 at Desloge, St. Francois County, Missouri. She married Norman Joseph Edwards.

(8) James Lynn Sago was born 27 December 1938 at Desloge, St. Francois County, Missouri. He married Judith Ann Ashbrook.
