     PATERNITY: Source for the father of Benjamin Henson came from the USGenWeb site for Harrison County, Kentucky. A very fine summary, dated 30 Dec 1999, of the Henson family of that county is given by James Faulconer of Kettering, Ohio. His email addres at that time was [email protected].

COURT RECORDS: Bullitt County, Kentucky Court (order book) 1797-1900, Bk D-E, 1813-1830, p. 127, FHL #482678: 5 Feb 1815, On the motion of Benjamin Henson ordered that he be appointed guardian of Humphrey and Nancy Simmons heirs of Griffin Simmons dec'd instead of Richard Simmons Jun who has __ the guardianship. Witness whereupon s'd Henson entered into bond with Elemilick Swearengen, Phillip B. Troutman his securities ordered that Richard Simmons Jun late guardian of Humphrey and Nancy Simmons heirs of Griffin Simmons dec'd pay over unto Benjamin Henson guardian of s'd Humphrey and Nancy all the monies which he may have in his hands belonging to them - $215.42 1/2 c.

Ibid., Bk, F-G, 1830-1849, FHL #0482679, p.169. Humphry Simmons took the oath required by law for letters of Administration on the estate of John Williams, deceased . . . Benjamin Henson, and others as securities. NOTE: Verlinda Williams Henson is a half sister to John Williams and aunt to the wife of Humphrey Simmons.

PROBATE: Bullitt County, Kentucky Wills, Bk. C 1838-1846, p. 58, FHL #0482685. I Benjamin Henson of Bullitt County in the state of Kentucky do make ordain and disclose this insturment to be my last will and testament. Inprimis - all my just debts are to be paid as circumstance will permit. To my dearly beloved wife Verlinder Henson I give and bequeath my farm lying on the south side of Salt River containing two hundred acres, of which one hundred and fifty formerly belonged to Samuel Simmons and fifty acres belonged to Humphry Simmons Jr - I also do my moiety of an undivided tract of land containing three hundred acres lying and being in Harrison County being the land my father died possessed of, I give the use and profit and benefit to her forever: I also do my personal estate of every sort and kind to be used and dispurcd of as she shall think proper - . . . . I constitute and appoint my wife Verlinder Henson my Executrix and Brittain White my Executor of this my last will, working and making void all former wills by me made . . . 13 day of December 1831.      PROBATE: Albermarle County, Virginia will Bk I. p.1; 1749, In the name of God, Amen, I, William Phelps being weak in Body but in sound & perfect Memory do make this my last Will and Testament in manner and form as followeth; 1st I give and bequeath to my Loving Brother in law, William Baber, Two Hundred acres of Land on Nell Moore's Creek of Slate River joining John Sharp's line to him & his heirs . . . . I give and Bequeath to my Loving Father, Thomas Phelps & to my loving Brother, Thomas Phelps, Junr. all the reat & residue to my Estate . . .in trust never the less to be equally Divided by them between my two sons, James Phelps & William Phelps & their heirs forever and for no other intent or Purpose whatsoever & do ordain and appoint my said Father and Brother (inlaw) executors of this my last will . . . .
