Text: Charlottsville,Albermarle,Virginia, Will and Deed Book 1, p.1. In the name of God amen, I William Phelps, being weak in body, but sound in mind and perfect memory, do make this my last will and testament - - First I give and bequeath to my loving brother-in-law William Baber, two hundred acres of land on Nell Moore's Creek of Slate River, joining Sharps line, to him and his heirs forever, on condition he pay to my Executors herein after named, or their order, the value of rights, surveyors and seccetary's fees of the same. I give and bequeath to my Loving father Thomas Phelps (IV) and my loving brother, Thomas Phelps (V) jr. all that est. & residue of my estate, what nature and kind soever in trust, never the less to be equally divided by them between my two sons James Phelps and William Phelps, and their heirs forever, and for no other interest and purpose whatever, and do ordain my said father and brother executors of my last will etc . Signed and sealed in the presence of William Cabell, Thomas McDaniel, John Duham and John Blackie. Proved Albermarle County Court May 1749.

Text: . . .This Richard P. Simmons was a brother of Mrs. Josiah Phelps (Susannah Simmons) and Mrs. George Phelps (Tabitha Simmons) of Madison Co.,Ky. Elderly relatives, now dead . . . remembered that Richard Pottinger Simmons and his wife Sally, drove through Bullitt Co., to Madison Co., in a "high buggy" drawn by a pair of handsome horses, at least once a year, to visit his sisters Susannah and Tabitha Phelps. . .
