Still chuckling over Ted's pronouncement that there couldn't be a number in the army like ours. That may very well be; there certainly has never been an AW outfit with the luck of ours. We got in Gela, Sicily, on "D" day, and on arrival on the beach found it very carefully mined -- and gerry tanks on the same beach. Later on, while we were working inside a building, there was an engineer on the roof calmly dropping fused dynamite on tanks in the street below -- while next to him was a navy spotter radioing in corrections (for naval guns) on tanks in the field in back of us. No need even to use glasses!
Well, as I was saying, this battalion is lucky, ...
