CALIFORNIA..... HERE WE COME!

Tue., Apr. 11.
I feel good and rested this a.m. We are going through the balance of Kansas and part of Colorado today. It was gloomy this a.m. Emma wrote to Dr. A. A. W. this a.m. We reached Las Vegas (New Mex.) at 5:46 p.m. Mac Lewis met us at the train. We passed through the "Raton Tunnel".....also got out at "Raton," at top of the Rockie Mountain, 7,608 ft. above sea level. Lovely place, snowing and sunshine. New Mexico has some good country and the mountain here is lovely. We retired at 10 p.m.
Wed., Apr. 12.
We ate breakfast at Gallup, N. Mex. I bought some fine buns. Ate breakfast at 9 a.m. The train is 5-hours behind time. It will be tomorrow at noon before we reach Los Angeles. We could see the train creep around the mountain. Saw the "bottomless pit." Retired at 9:30 p.m.

End of 1905

...............................................................................................................

[NOTE: In his December 25, 1905, entry, W. S. Myers says, "See Robert's list of Christmas things elsewhere in this book." However, I could not find any list. Perhaps the list was written on a loose piece of paper and it fell out. So, it appears we are all deprived of little Robert's Christmas bounty! MLD]
