FAIRWEATHER, THOMAS

Thomas Fairweather, late of Peel, was born in 1817. He came to Peel in 1850, and took up 100 acres, lot 21, con. 15, in the "Queen's Bush." He came to Canada without resources, but by his energy and perseverance achieved success. He was a man of influence, and highly educated; and left a family the members of which at the present time hold responsible positions in the community. He was a Methodist and a Liberal. For a number of years he held the office of School Trustee. He married Margaretta Etta, born in England and died in 1890, age 72. Issue: Mrs. Wm. Healey, William, John, Mrs. J. H. Walker, Henry and Annette.

William owns the farm in Nichol and Peel, known as "Idlewild." He married Mary Jane Jackson. Issue: Mary E., Charles (d.), Clara, Frank, Arthur, Maggie, Sydney and Edith.

John is a prosperous farmer in Peel. He married Martha McCrea. Issue: Thomas H., James M., Morely J. (d.), Margaretta and Robina.

� Henry was born in Canada, and owns the homestead, lot 21, con. 15, of Peel, known as "Primrose Hill," a beautiful place. He is engaged in mixed farming, with grade cattle, Clydesdale horses, and Yorkshire pigs, and feeds cattle for export. He is a very popular man; temperate in his habits, and of strong convictions. He is a Methodist, and in politics a Liberal. He held the offices of School Trustee, Councillor for six years, Reeve for two years and Recording Steward of the district.

He married Mary Elizabeth Smith, of Dundas, whose father was a clergyman. Issue: Ethel May, Nellie G., Charles H., Lilly B. and Stanley
