PRICHARD, HUGH

The late Hugh Pritchard, of Pilkington, was b. in Wales, and came to Canada in 1849, settling in Pilkington, on lot 2, con. A., now owned by Thomas Pritchard. He was a Methodist, and a Liberal. He m. Mary Williams, who d. age 95. Issue: Mrs. James Whitelaw, set. Woodstock; Catharine, Mrs. Thomas Hay, set. in Woodstock; Robert (d.), Richard and Thomas.

Thomas Pritchard learned farming in the old country, and came to Canada in 1849, with considerable means, and engaged in the same occupation, in which he has been very successful. He makes a specialty of pedigreed Durham cattle, Tamworth and Yorkshire hogs. He has been a member of the Methodist church for fifty years, and one of its Trustees for twenty years. In politics he is a Liberal. His first wife was Margaret Roberts, who d. at the age of 62. Issue: Richard, m. Nancy Hewitt, set. in Guelph; Hugh, m. Jane Galbraith, and is a retired farmer in New York; Robert, James m. Jessie Binney, set. in Hamilton. In 1892 Mr. Pritchard m. Ann Jones, dau. of David Jones, a pioneer who came to Pilkington in 1849.

Robert Pritchard, son of Thomas Pritchard, was b. in Canada in 1856, and owns 150 acres, on lot 8, con. B., where he is engaged in mixed farming, and feeds a large number of cattle for export. His stock consists of Durham and grade cattle, Leicester and Yorkshire hogs. He is a progressive and up-to-date farmer. He is a Methodist and a Liberal. In 1883 he m. Frances Susannah Winfield. Issue: Maude, Oscar, who is at Brandon, Man.; Hugh, Ida, Robert.
