William Tucker, a pioneer of Peel Tp., was b. in Cornwall, Eng. in 1822. He came to Canada, settling first in Toronto, where he successfully engaged in the milling business. In 1848 he moved to Peel, where he purchased 100 acres of bush, Lot 5, Concession 15.

Mr. Tucker was a Steward and class leader in the Methodist Church and a Conservative in politics. He married Susan Allan, who d. in 1904, at the age of 79. Issue: Mrs. Wm. Fenton (d), settled in the county of Bruce; Amelia (d), John, Mrs. John S. Philip, settled in Maryborough; James, Mrs. John H. Booth, settled in Moorefield; George, Richard and Mrs. Rev. Robert Hosking, settled in Lampton County, where Mr. Hosking is a Methodist minister.

John Tucker owns 250 acres of land, Lot 8, Concession 17, of Peel. He married Kate Moore. Issue: Lewis A., Norman, Howard W., Catharine, Jennie, John, James, Mary and Edward. James Tucker was b. in Canada in the county of Bruce. He married Mary A. Stewart, daughter of John Stewart, and resides on the old homestead of his grandfather, George Tucker.

He is a Methodist and a Steward of the church, and Recording Steward of the Alma Circuit. He has held the office of member of the Provincial Parliament for West Wellington for the past thirteen years, defeating John Patterson of Maryborough in 1897; Robert Scott of Minto in 1900; James McEwing, in 1901; and Joseph Roach, in 1905. He is an able man, popular with his constituency and a successful farmer.

George Tucker, unmarried, owns 200 acres in Peel, and is First Dep. Reeve of the township. In 1896 he ran as a Patron for member of the Provincial Parliament, defeating A.S. Allen, but was unseated and his brother, James Tucker, was elected to the office.

Richard Tucker, unmarried, owns 100 acres in Peel Township. The brothers work their farms together for the mutual interest.
