3968. James FERRIS (58) died on 6 Nov 1726. J.G. Ferris - "He was one of the original patentees named in the patent granted to the Town of Greenwich by the General Assembly, May, 1665. Commissioned Officer in the militia during the Colonial Period; April Session, 1690, was commissioned Ensign of the train band in the Town of Greenwich. He married - wife's identity unknown, but it was not Mary Merritt." Children were:

child iii. Samuel (Holmes) FERRIS(58) was born on 21 Sep 1705/6 in Greenwich,Fairfield,CT. He died on 25 Apr 1786 in Greenwich,Fairfield,CT. He has Ancestral File number 8RK9-G8. He was buried in Tomac Road Cemetery,Old Greenwich,CT. J.G. Ferris - "He was commissioned as an Ensign of the train band of Greenwich, 1731; served as a Corporal in the French-Indian War in Captain White's Company of Stanwich, 9th Regiment; the company marched to the relief of Fort William Henry in August, 1757; he also served as a Sergeant in Captain George Peck's Company of Greenwich during the Rev. War. [It has been questioned that this Samuel was the Samuel who served in Captain Peck's company during the Rev. War, because of his age -- this is a valid point, considering that [his son] Samuel Ferris is also listed as serving as a Sergeant in Captain Peck's Company, but... will leave here for now, pending further research.]"
child iv. Mary FERRIS(58) was born on 28 Oct 1708 in Greenwich,Fairfield,CT. She died on 9 Feb 1796. She has Ancestral File number 8RK9-HF.
child v. Hannah FERRIS(58) was born on 17 Aug 1710. She has Ancestral File number 8RK9-JL. J.G. Ferris - "She married Jonathan Lockwood [John Mead?]."
