My family of
Riddetts came from Shalfleet, Isle of Wight. The first one in my line is
John Riddett my 6 great grandfather born circa 1667 and his wife Ann.
John was the village stone mason. They had three sons John b 1710,
William b 1715, James b 1715, and two girls Ann b 1718 and Mary b 1720.
James married twice no. 1, (my line ) to Ann Mew / Merd. They married 5
Nov 1739 and had five children James b 1740, Ann 1743, Rachel b 1745 and
died 1747, Robert b 1748 ( my Line ) Thomas b 1750. Ann wife no.1 died
21 June 1753 at Shalfleet. Then James married Mary Wood 8 th. Aug 1758,
they had five children, Rachel b 1758 m James Hendy 1776 ( Rachel is my
I/2 5th great aunt Frances b 1762 married James Cotton 7 May 1786,
Richard John , Elizabeth.
