Watseka (JNS) - Mrs. Marie Wessels 64, RR 3, Watseka, dies Sunday at 12.55 a.m. at Iroquois Hospital after a long illness. (penciled date Dec. 4, 1966}
She was born June 30, 1902, near Milford, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Anton Sobkoviak. She was married May 26, 1926 to Harry Wessel, Who survives.
Also Surviving are: a daughter, Mrs. Russell Hockersmith, Homer; sisters Mrs. Martin Nielson, Milford and Mrs. John Weinrank, Phoenix, Ariz; four brothers, Edwin and Henry both of Watseka; John of Milford and Martin, Phoenix: and two grandsons.
She was a member of the Faith Lutheran Church. The funeral services will be3 at the church at 2 p.m. Tuesday, with the Rev. George Freidinger officiating. Sour will be at St. Peter's Church Cemetery, Crescent City. Visitation will be at the Devalk Funeral Home, today until noon Tuesday.

Died Sunday After
Long Illness
Mrs. Harry (Marie) Wessels, 64, RR 3, Watseka,, died Sunday at 12:55 a.m. at Iroquois Hospital. She had been in failing health for some time and for the last several years was at the Iroquois Resident Home.
Mrs. Wessels was born June 30,1902 near Milford, the daughter of
Anton and Mary Brust Sobkoviak. She was married May 26, 1926 to Harry Wessels, who survives.
Also surviving are: a daughter, Mrs. Russell (Lois) Hockersmith, Homer; sisters, Mrs. Martin (Gertrude) Nielsen, Milford, and Mrs. John (Elsie) Weinrank, Phoenix, Ariz.; four brothers, Edwin and Henry, both of Watseka, John of Milford ,and Martin of Phoenix; and two grandsons, Lee and Gary Hockersmith.
Mrs. Wessels was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Crescent City for many years, having been a Sunday School teacher for, 20 years. Recently she transferred her membership to the newly organized Faith Lutheran Church in Watseka.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother and a sister.
The funeral services were held at the Faith Lutheran Church at 2 p.m. Tuesday, With the Rev. Herman Koester and the Rev George Freidlinger officiating, Sour was in the St. Peter's Lutheran Church Cemetery at crescent, City, under direction of Devalk Funeral Home.

Watseka area, died Friday
evening (Oct. 19, 2001) at Mount
Carmel East Hospital, Columbus,
Ohio, following a lengthy illness.
Visitation will be from noon
(Eastern Standard Time) Wednes-
day until the 2 p.m. services at the
Evans Funeral Home, 4171 E. Liv-
ingston Ave.. Columbus, Ohio.

She was born May 22, 1921, in
Belmont Township, Watseka, the
daughter of Henry and Anna
Schaumburg Penner.
She is survived by her husband,
Lowell, whom she married on
April 9,1944, at St. Johns Luther-
an Church, Schwer; one daughter,
Jananne of Chicago; four sons, Jay
(Pam) of Aurora, Don (Trish) of
Pickering, Ohio, Ben (Barb) of
Jacksonville, Fla., and Rod of
Columbus, Ohio; six grandchil..
dren, Megan, Tracey, Chris,
Daniel, Sarah and Andrew; one
sister and brother-in- law, Hilde-
gard and William Adsit of Mil-
ford; two sisters-in- law, Dorothy
Benner of Woodland and Henriet-
ta Benner of Horseshoe Bend,
Ark.; a brother- in-law and sister-
in-law, Vernon and Lorraine
Meents of Ashkum; and several
nieces and nephews.
She graduated from Milford
High School and llinois USA State Uni-
versity, Normal with a teaching
degree.
Mrs. Wessels taught for sever-
al years in the rural schools in Iro-
quois County. She then became
involved in the family business
until retirement.
She was a past member of
Faith Lutheran Church in Watse-
ka before moving to Ohio.
She enjoyed her grandchildren.

carol and Randy Martin of Montrose, Ga.; sister and brother-in-law, Phyllis and Albert Johnston of Kankakee; brothers and sister-in-laws, Wayne Dickman of Milford, Vera and Bob Johnson of Stockton, Dennis and Jo Ann Dickmann of Herscher, two grandchildren, Amanda Trobaugh and Andrew Martin.
She is preceded in death by both parents.
Visitation will be from 10-11 A.M. Saturday at the Calvary Lutheran Church in Watseka.
Funeral services will be at 11 A.M. Sunday at the church with Pastor Dean Bottjen officiating.
Sour will be at the Oak Hill Cemetery in Watseka.
Memorials may be made to Calvery Lutheran Church or Prairieview Lutheran Home in Danforth.
Arrangements were made by Baier Funeral Home in Watseka.
