Clement DRURY

Clement was born about 1759 in St. Mary's County, MD to William Drury and Mary Ann Wooton. In 1785, Emigrated from Maryland, to Praire Du Rocher (PDR), IL via Cahokia, IL. He opened a Horse Mill in Prairie du Rocher. On Aug 1, 1875, Clement married Marie Josephte PROVOST (dit blondin) at St. Joespeh's Church in Prairie Du Rocher, ILL. Marie was the daughter Jean Baptiste Provost and Agnes Loisel, both of St. Phillipe, IL.

"About the same time or probably as early as 1795, Clement Drury, from Maryland, (my comment-this Clement -son of William Drury and Mary Anne Wootton) came to Prairie du Rocher, and erected a horse-mill. This mill stood near the present residence of Mr. Sprigg. It did a good business, and was a great benefit to the people for many years. Mr. Drury died in 1812, leaving four sons -- JOHN, WILLIAM, CLEMENT AND RAPHAEL. John emigrated and settled in Missouri, William and Clement located in town, and died there some years ago, leaving families. Raphael died in California."

Poll of an Election held at Kaskaskia in the County of Randolph, to elect a Representative to the Assembly of the Indiana Territory, 2nd Feb, 1807. Clement Drury cast his vote for George Fisher, esq.

In Sep of 1814, Clement drury died in Prairie Du Rocher, IL.
