| John Kirchner was born on May
29, 1879 in Nichols, IA to Bernard and Charlotte(Lenz) Kirchner. He is listed in the
1880 at the age of 1. By the 1900 Census, John is listed as a merchant still living
with his parents at the age of 21. On July 1, 1904 John married Lucy Elizabeth Mapes, daughter of Fred
Brighton Mapes and Sarah Morris. In the 1910 Census, John is listed a merchant in the restaurant industry in Pike, Muscatine, IA. After 1910, John started working with the railroad company and the family moved to Oregon where James (1911) and Genevieve (1912) were born. Shortly after 1912, John and Lucy divorced and Lucy moved back to Nichols, IA where she later married Ben Black. John subsequently moved to Fort Worth, Tarrant, TX. In the 1920 Federal Census, John is living as a boarder and his occupation is listed as Railway Express. In the 1930 Federal Census, John is married to IV Kirchner with 1 son John age 7 and they are living in Parker Precinct 2, Texas. John passed away in 1940 and he is buried in Nichols Cemetery, Muscatine, IA on the same plot as his parents and siblings. |
