Rapid City, Pennington Co., South Dakota, USA, at age 70; PINE RIDGE -- Bernadine L. LeBeau, 70, passed on to the Spirit World on March 5, 2007, at Rapid City, SD. Bernadine Lois LeBeau, (Wanah'ca Zi Win - Yellow Flower Woman) was born on October 29, 1936, in Alliance, NE, to Bernard and Florine (Goings) LeBeau. She attended Oglala Community School and received her high school diploma from Ft. Collins High School. Bernadine worked for several years at Waterpik, Inc. in Ft. Collins, CO, before returning to South Dakota in the early '70s. In 1973, she married Jerauld E. Weaver and they have been married since. Bernadine devoted over 30 years of service to the Oglala Sioux Tribe, the past 13 years as a much-loved employee of the Prairie Wind Casino. Bernadine was the oldest of 13 children, which included Donna Bettelyoun, Dugan LeBeau, Dusty LeBeau, Paul LeBeau, Twila LeBeau, Tuck LeBeau and Gerald LeBeau of Pine Ridge, SD; Arnelle Skye of Pierre, SD, Bobbie Jo Clark of Phoenix, AZ, Lona LeBeau of Rapid City, SD. Adopted siblings included Greta Brown and Robert Nichols of Rapid City, SD. Bernadine is survived by her husband, Jerauld Weaver of Hot Springs, SD, and her six children, which include: Carol Arellano of San Antonio, TX, Eddie Abold of Gordon, NE, Antonio Arellano of Fargo, ND, Ramona Gracey of Wellington, CO, Gino Arellano and Patti Arellano, both of Pine Ridge, SD. Bernadine had 16 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Bernadine was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents Keva and Elsie Goings, Edward and Elizabeth LeBeau; brothers, Marvin and Lynn LeBeau; and one daughter, Lynn LeBeau. She was also preceded in death by Waylon, Freddy and Boxcar. A one-night wake vigil will begin at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, March 8, 2007, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Pine Ridge, SD. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 9:00 a.m. Friday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Rev. Steve Sanford as Celebrant. Interment will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Black Hills National Cemetery, Sturgis, SD. Sioux Funeral Home of Pine Ridge is in charge of arrangements.
