    History of the County of Peterborough Ontario -1884. "John Drain, deceased, was born in England about 1793. He came to Canada in 1831, and settled in the Township of Dummer on Lot 8, Concession 8, where he took up 100 acres, which he improved and remained on until his death in 1853. Mr. Drain married Ann Drain of Ireland, by whom he had three children."

      History of the County of Peterborough Ontario -1884. "David the second son, born in the County Antrim, Ireland, in 1823, came to Canada with his parents, and remained at home until 1859, when he purchased 200 acres on Lot 29, Concession 7, which he has improved and resided on ever since. In 1884 Mr. Drain married Fannie Noble, of Dummer, by whom he had six children. Mr Drain was in the Township Council for three years.
