Mrs. R. C. Potts Dies At Early Hour Today ---
Mrs. Claribel Fife Potts wife of R. C. Potts, business manager of The Daily Notes, died at 5:10 Wednesday morning, February 20, at her home at 206 South Jefferson Avenue. Mrs. Potts had been in poor health for the past ten years, but was confined to her bed for only two weeks. The cause of death was heart disease.
Mrs. Potts was born near Montclair Car Stop, Allegheny County January 27, 1856. She was married to Mr. R. C. Potts, November 30, 1882. Shortly after their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Potts removed to Parkesburg, Chester County Pa., where they resided until 1902 when they returned to Canonsburg where they have since resided.
Mrs. Potts was the daughter of John and Mary Adams Fife. In addition to her husband Mrs. Potts is survived by one daughter, Mrs. R. H. Griffith of Chartiers Township. She was the mother of one son, William Maxwell Potts, who died in 1908 from injuries received in a football game.
She is also survived by five grandchildren, Samuel Claude Griffith, William Potts Griffith, Clara Margaret Griffith, James Maxwell Griffith and Rolland Hamilton Griffith, Jr.; two brothers and two sisters viz Thomas Fife of Thompsonville; S. Morgan Fife, of Canonsburg; Mrs. George D. McNutt of West Pike Street and Mrs. Ella Matthews of Vine Street.
In her early girlhood Mrs. Potts made a profession of her faith in Christ and united with Bethel Presbyterian congregation in Allegheny County. After the removal of the family to Canonsburg she became a member of the First Presbyterian congregation of Canonsburg and remained a consistent member of it during the remainder of her life.
The funeral services will be held in the Potts home 206 South Jefferson Avenue, Friday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock. Interment in Oak Spring Cemetery.
