Is this her father-in-law and his family? I am now assuming so. Recent census research indicates that Andrew J. Wolfe lived close to Sylvester and Phoebe Condit in Scott County, IA, in 1860, which seem too much of a coincidence. For now (unless it's proved otherwise) I am assuming this was the Phoebe Wolfe who married Sylvester Condit. The age of this Phoebe Wolfe Condit would indicate that she had to be a daughter of Elisabeth Smith, so I have moved her to that family group.

[22.] ZENAS CONDIT (of Jabez) learned the carpenter's trade in New Jersey with a mechanic named Halsey. He emigrated to Washington County, Pa., in 1800 with Philip Axtell, where he married Eunice Goble, Dec. 11, 1804. She was born Jan. 22, 1787; died Feb. 7, 1857. He removed to the adjoining county of Greene in 1815, where he purchased four hundred acres of land near the line between Greene and Washington counties. He occupied this farm eighteen years, then sold it for twelve hundred dollars and purchased three hundred acres further south, near what is now Nineveh, Greene County. There he remained until his removal to the residence of his son, Sylvester, in Iowa, where he died Dec. 4, 1862. Zenas was ordained ruling elder in Upper Ten-Mile Presbyterian Church in 1825, and remained such until his removal to Iowa. Being a devout student of the Bible, his aptness in using Scriptural phrases is remembered by all who knew him. An eminent [End Page 310]
divine once remarked that he "feared theological combat with no one but Uncle Zenas Condit." His son, Ira S. Condit, resided on the old farm in Greene County.

"From History of Scott County, Iowa 1882 Chicago: Interstate Publishing Co."
Henry Parmele was born in Cattaraugus County, N. Y., March 10, 1825. His parents are William and Laura (Treat) Parmele, the former a native of Massachusetts and the latter of New York. His father was a farmer, but engaged for many years in the lumber trade. In 1838 he accompanied his parents to Scott County, where they located on a farm in his township, which they subsequently pruchased from the Government when the lands came into market. On this farm the parents lived and died, the father in 1874, and the mother in April, 1875. Henry attended the common school, and for a time the select school of Father Palamorgues, which completed his educational course. In 1852 Henry Parmele and Emma, daughter of Sylvester and Phoebe (Wolf) Condit, who was born Sept. 25, 1832, were united in marriage. Mr. and Mrs. Condit were natives of Greene County, Pa., the former being born in 1806 and the latter in 1815. The family came to Scott county in 1835 and located on a farm near the present village of Le Claire, where Mr. Condit died May 27, 1881. Mrs. Condit yet lives on the old homestead. After marriage Mr. and Mrs. Parmele located on their present farm which consists of 200 acres of land, worth $100 per acre. In 1853 Mr. Parmele lost a leg by disease, but he manages to do good service and attend well to his business with the aid of one natural and one wooden leg. He is the father of 11 children, four of whom are living - Rosa Ella, Anna Viola, Clara Belle, Harry Dillon. The seven deceased are Mary Ellen, Clarissa Jane, Laura Emma, William Henry, Phoebe Louisa, Hattie Jessie, John Forest. Mr. and Mrs. Parmele are members of the M. E. church. Mr. Parmele is a Republican in politics.
