Will of Edward Carroll, Deceased.
In the name of God Amen, this Second day of October, one thousand eight hundred and nine, I Edward Carroll being sick, and weak of body, but of perfect mind, and memory, and calling to mind the mortality of my body, do make and ordain this my last Will and testament in manner and form following, and First I recommend my soul into the hands of God who gavt (sic) it, and my body to be buried in a Christian like, and decent manner, at the direction of my after named executors, and as to such worldly estate as it has pleased God to bless me with in this life, I give and dispose of in the maner (sic) following, that is to say, I will and order that all my just debts and funeral charges be paid out of my personal estate by my after named executor. Item, give and bequeath unto my well loved wife Agness after my lawful debts are paid, as above, the management of my personal estate, also the possession of my real estate, with the profits thereof, so long as her natural life, or widowhood, Item Devise unto my daughter Mary Jordan, the sum of one dollar and no more, Item Devise unto my daughter Agness Jordan, the sum of one dollar and no more, Item Devise unto my daughter Elizabeth Chace (sic), the sum of one dollar and no more, Item Devise and bequeath unto my son James all my land on Wheelen Finley township, to him his heirs and assigns forever, and all my personal estate, after the decease of my beloved wife, shall be my son James's (sic) entirely. I likewise constitute and appoint my son James my only and sole executor of this last will and testament, hereby revoking all and every of my former Wills and testaments, disannulling and making them void, confirming this and no other to be my last Will and testament. In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this second day of October, in the year of our lord, one thousand eight hundred and nine.

Washington County ss: Be it remembered that on the 29th day of November in the year of our Lord, 1824, before me Saml. Cunningham, Deputy Register for the probate of Wills, and granting letters of Administration in and for said County, came John Sprowls and David Frazier, two of the subscribing witnesses to the within last Will and Testament of Edward Carroll, deceased, who being duly sworn as the law directs, do depose and say, that they were present, and did see the testator thereof execute this Will, and did hear him publish, pronounce and declare the same as and for his last Will and testament. And that at the time of his so doing he was of sound and disposing mind, memory and understanding tot he best of their knowledge observation and belief.
