My great grandfather was Dempsey Griffin Mitchell, son of William Harrison Mitchell, Sr., and Nancy Griffin Mitchell. Dempsey Griffin Mitchell was born 16-May-1856 in Tuscaloosa County, Alabama, and died 25-Feb-1936 in Eastland County, Texas. His wife, Pomelia Frances Roycroft, known as (Amelia or "Little Granny"), was born 18-Jun-1859 in Tuscaloosa County, Tuscaloosa, Alabama, and died 11-April-1951 in Caldwell County, Luling, Texas. She was the daughter of Anson Cameron Roycroft and Catherine Booth.

Katherine Mary had "old timers" and her mind went back in to time when they fought the Indians. She worried that they were coming back to kill her and her children. Katherine Mary was put in a mental hospital because the docter thought she might hurt her self or others.

Maston Frank Mitchell, 79, of New Braunfels died Tuesday, January 27, in Seguin County, Guadalupe, Texas. Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan 30, at Goetz Memorial Chapel with the Rev. James Petty officiating. Interment will be in McNeil Cemetery in Luling. Survivors include one son, James F. Mitchell of El Paso; three grandsons, Mark, Curtis and David Mitchell, all of El Paso, two sisters, Dollie Crowell of Luling and Sue Claxton of Phoenix, Arizona, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Marion Crowell, Jay Crowell, Arno Crowell, D. G. Crowell, John Barfield and Ira West.
