Harlan Yost Jones
b. 21 July 1912 Jonestown, PA
d. 24 February 1959 Harrisburg, PA
Harlan Yost Jones was the first son of Sheldon and Irene Yost Jones. He may have been born in Jonestown in the family home. Unusual at this time, Ashbel seems to have had a camera in the home, are there are many pictures taken beginning in the 1910's. He must have had some wealth, and would have had merchandise available from the store. It's lucky for us because we do have some visual aids from this time.
Harlan's early years were spent in West Pittston (see Sheldon Jones' family censuses for 1920,1930. These were happy, prosperous times for the family, until the death Irene in 1926 when Harlan was 14. This is a picture of Harlan in grade school in West Pittston taken around 1920.
