My 4X-Great Grandfather Hezekiah Jones

Hezekiah Jones
b. 1727/8 Mt. Holly, NJ
d. 20 August 1806
Mt. Holly, NJ

Hezekiah was the father of Benjamin Jones.

Hezekiah's first wife was Lavinia (also: Lavina, Levina) Shinn. They were married on 9 June 1749. Lavinia gave birth to one daughter, Margaret, but she didn't live very long, possibly dying in childbirth with Margaret or a later unsuccessful birth.

His second wife was Margaret Haines, born around 1730-1735 in Mt. Holly NJ. They were married 7 April 1755 in Mt. Holly. They had 7 children, the last of which was Benjamin.

This information has been included on this page although it has no reliable source and really consists of hearsay evidence gleamed from other possibly flawed research. It has been included because it is all I know at this point in time.

Is Hesekiah Jones the father of our Benjamin?

Most of my assumption that Hesekiah is the father of Benjamin is based on the fact that my grandfather, Sheldon Jones, had included his name as such. His sources in the early 1950's would have been based on memory of older family members and his childhood experiences. It is not too far-fetched to think that his father and other relatives in the 19th century would have heard the stories of their ancestors and family history. Estella Jones Kimble, a granddaughter of Benjamin Jones, who was born in 1851 and died in 1936, was one of Sheldon's oral sources. I would consider her information reliable, but there is no proof! Sorry!
