The Wilson Family

John Wilson was named as the out-of-wedlock father of Thomas Baird. Thus did the Wilson DNA enter our Mitchell bloodline. John was only a few months younger than Margaret Baird and lived just around the corner from Margaret at 118 Kilnknowe in Galston at the time of the 1861 census. John also was a weaver at that time

John died on April 1, 1923 at 24 High St. in Newmilns, Ayrshire, Scotland at his son James's house of "spinal sclerosis paralysis". The Death Certifificate gives us this information: John Wilson; retired manufacturer; widower of Agnes Wagstaff Morton; d. Apr 1, 1923; 15 h. at 24 High Street, New milns; 82 years old (registered on Apr. 4 1923 at Newmilns) Father: James Wilson, Sawmill worker, deceased Mother: Agnes Wilson ms Caldwell (deceased); Spinal Sclerosis Paralysis 10 days as certified by Alex W. Aird ; Signature of witness: James Wilson, son, present; 64 Main St. Newmilns
