9.2 John James COUCH (Margaret TUCKER , John (1) TUCKER , John (2) TUCKER , Thomas (3) TUCKER , John (7) TUCKER , Thomas (5) TUCKER , John TUCCAR , Gilbert ) was born in 1877 in Brixham, Devon.

John was brought up in Brixham, but soon after his marriage he moved with his wife to Devonport, Devon, where he worked as a shipwright. They were still there with their children in 1911, but by 1916 had moved to Redruth.

John married Emma MILLS in 1900 in Brixham. Emma was born in 1877 in Brixham, the daughter of fisherman Joseph Philip MILLS and his wife Mary Grace née SHEARS.

John and Emma had the following children:

In 1891, Polly appears to have been enumerated twice, once with her parents and siblings at 34 Fore Street and once with grandmother at Magdella Cottage, Drew Street (both in Brixham). She was living with her parents in 1901 and with her grandfather John in 1911.

Polly married Garnet Reynolds TUCKER (no relation of the other TUCKERs in this tree) in 1904 in Brixham. Garnet was born in 1880 in Brixham, Devon, the son of fisherman John Brinham TUCKER and his wife Sarah Ann née NOWELL.

Garnet was himself a fisherman, which was probably why he was not at home in 1901 and 1911.

9.7 Annie JOLLEY (Mary Ann Roberts TUCKER , Robert (2) TUCKER , John (2) TUCKER , Thomas (3) TUCKER , John (7) TUCKER , Thomas (5) TUCKER , John TUCCAR , Gilbert TUCKER) was born on 16 May 1884 at 17 Hilda Street, New Clee, Lincolnshire. She died on 28 Jun 1954 at the General Hospital, Grimsby.

After her mother died, Annie lived with her grandfather Robert for a time––as a result of which she became known as Annie TUCKER.  By 1901, Annie had moved to live in Waterloo, Lancashire, probably either with her aunt Hannah or her grand aunt Phyllis SALSBURY.

Annie married Joseph PROCTOR on 30 Jan 1909 in Ebenezer Chapel, New Clee. Joseph was born in 1885 in Grimsby, the son of bricklayer Frederick PROCTOR and his wife Mary née PYCOCK. 

At the time of his marriage in 1909, Joseph was a journeyman blacksmith living at 84 Castle Street, Grimsby. Norma Proctor, the famous contralto, is Joseph's niece.

Vera married Gilbert Gladstone PIPER in 1923 in Paignton. Gilbert was born on 10 Aug 1898 in Headington, Oxford, the son of Oxford University college servant Edwin Erle PIPER and his wife Lucy née RICE. He died in Jun 1984 in Middlesex.

During 1916-1918, Gilbert served in the 51st Highlanders, and then qualified as a pharmacist. In 1945-1970, he lived at 32 Colville Square, Notting Hill.

Bertie grew up in Gibraltar. He was an engine fitter in the Devonport Dockyard before joining the police force.
