 After small cash bequests to sons, John Horace, James Albert, and Joseph Wilbur Higgins, Mrs. Julia A  Higgins by her will, dated December 13 1915,and filed yesterday for probate, leaves the residue of her estate to her Daughter, Ethel Margaret Higgins. A friend Mrs. Jessie C. Jenkins is named executrix.

-Injury from freight car fatal-
James A Higgins, 58 years old, residing with his family at 626 I Street N.E. who was knocked down by a freight car in the Eckington freight yards of the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad Thursday night, died at Emergency Hospital yesterday morning. He was employed in the yard as a car inspector. One of his legs was mashed. He died from internal injuries. Coroner Nevitt will hold an inquest in the case this morning at the district morgue.

- That James A  Higgins, 58 years old, 626 I Street N.E., a car inspector, who died October 23,at Casualty Hospital as the result of being run over by a freight car in the Baltimore and Ohio Freight yards, Thursday night, came to his death through not using proper care, was the verdict returned by the coroners jury yesterday.

Jeanette Emma Higgins was born July 31,1919 in Washington D.C. She was the daughter of John Horace and Emma Jane Higgins (nee Ashley)and brother of Horace Richard Higgins. She married Raymond Edwin Letner, son of Garvey Everett and Lavina Ann Letner (nee Rice). She died December 1,1978 (see obituary scan) and her husband Raymond died on Tuesday June 7,1977 (see obituary scan) at Sibley Memorial Hospital in Washington D.C. Both are buried in Section 16 Lot 162 at Cedar Hill Cemetery located at 4111 Pennsylvania Ave Suitland Md. Hers is grave # 7.

James B. Higgins' son Joseph Wilbur Higgins was born May 18, 1897 in Laurel Maryland. He served as a Private 1st Class in the 3rd Machine Gun Battalion of the 1st Division during the 1st World War. His service began on August 14, 1917 until his honorable discharge on August 19, 1919. He received the Purple Heart for a wound he received during his service. He died June 28, 1955 in Michigan. He was buried at Parkview Memorial Cemetery in Livonia, Michigan.

Mr & Mrs Earl Eby, Sabillasville, announce the coming marriage of their daughter, Mabel Virginia to Major Horace Richard Higgins, Army of The United States, at 3 o'clock in afternoon of October 3, in Sabillasville. Miss Eby was graduated from the Thurmont High School in 1935 and from the Waynesboro Business College in 1936.She was employed at the Wayne Laboratories ,Waynesboro, Pennsylvania, following which she accepted a position in the War Department and moved to Washington D.C. three years ago. She is now employed in the Field Service Division, Office of the Chief of Ordnance in the Pentagon building. Major Higgins is the son of Mr.. And Mrs. John Horace Higgins,326 15th Street N.E. Washington D.C.. He was graduated from Eastern High School, Washington D.C., in 1928 and from the University of Maryland College Park in 1933. major Higgins, who has been on active duty three years is now chief of one of the units in the Field Service Division, Office of the Chief of Ordnance. He is a member of the Heroes of '76,Military Order of the World War. Sojourners and vice-chairman of the Society of Automotive Engineers. Following a short honeymoon in the north, the couple will return to Washington D.C., where they will reside.

Mr. Horace Richard Higgins, Lieutenant Colonel, U.S. Army retired,71,of Sundays Lane, Frederick, died Saturday September 5, at Frederick Memorial Hospital. He was born in Washington D.C., a son of the late John Horace and Emma Jane Ashley Higgins.
Mr. Higgins was a member of the Aberdeen Masonic Lodge; Almas Temple Shrine, Washington D.C. Sojourners Chapter: Heroes of '76;Royal Order of Scotland; Eastern Star; Military Order of Carabou and Military Order of World Wars; the Bernard L. Tobin American Legion Aberdeen,40 & 8;and BPOE Elks, Edgewood. During World War two he served in the Philippines in the Ordnance Corp, and with the Quartermasters Corp at Fort Holliderberg .Baltimore. He was with the Veterans Administration in the Department of Ordinance in the Army, Brookland Army Terminal. He retired in 1970 at the Aberdeen proving Grounds.
He is survived by his wife M. Virginia Eby Higgins; one daughter, Mrs. Jeanette Lucille Cullum, Essex; one son, John Earl Higgins, Frederick; three grandchildren, Jeanette "Missy"Cullum, R Steven Cullum, and Jacquline Rae Cullum. The family will receive friends from 7-9 pm Tuesday,September 8,at Robert E. Daily & Sons Funeral Home,(615 E. Main Street, Thurmont (MD), Services will be held at the funeral Home at 2pm,Wednesday September 9.
The Rev. Vernon E. Firme and the Rev. Claude Corl will officiate. Interment will be in Blue Ridge Cemetery, Thurmont.
(It goes on to state some of organizations to which he belonged are also having services.)
