All good things must end, and so I am now retiring and demobilizing back to my civilian job in Camden County. This photo is on the occasion of my receiving the Legion of Merit Award this morning [2/27/2002] at my retirement ceremony after more than 32 1/2 years of Active Army and Reserve Service. The LOM is one of the top peacetime awards for distinguished and meritorious service, and I'm very proud to be so honored. I'll be back to work in Camden the first of next month. The award was signed by and Secretary of the Army Thomas E. White and Lt. Gen. Paul Mikolashek (Commander of Army Central Command and Third U.S. Army). It was bestowed to me in LTG Mikolashek's absence (he is of course deployed to Kuwait) by Major General Mike Mayo, who is Commanding General of the 81st Reserve Support Command.
