Third Generation

55. Kenneth Arthur MOGEN was born on Feb 24, 1943 in en route to Watford City. He died on Mar 11, 2007 in Elm Tree Township, McKenzie County, ND. Kenneth was raised on the family farm in Hawkeye Township, near Charlson, ND. He was baptized and confirmed at Keene First Lutheran Church, attended elementary school in Hawkeye Township schools, and graduated from Watford City High School in 1961. He was active in many extracurricular activities including football, basketball, choir and 4H.

He continued his education at Iowa State University where he was initiated into Theta Chi Fraternity. He transferred to NDSU in Fargo and entered Army ROTC. After graduating in 1965 with a degree in agricultural economics, Ken was commissioned a 2nd Lt. in January of 1966. He worked in the Medical Service Corps at Edgewood Arsenal, MD. Captain Mogen was honorably discharged on March 15th. 1968.

Ken met Linda Thordal at NDSU, and they were married on March 13th, 1965 at Gary Lutheran Church, Gary, MN. Upon his discharge from the Army in 1968, the moved to the Charlie Mogen farm in Elm Tree Township. They made this farm their home for nearly forty years, raising beef cattle, durum wheat, and four children.

Ken was an active member of Keene First Lutheran Church, serving on the church council. He was a proud member of the American Legion Carl E. Rogen Post # 29, where he was a Past Commander. He served on the Independent Farmers Oil Board, and was awarded an Honorary Chapter FFA Degree for his service to the Watford City FFA Club. He was also honored as a Hall of Fame member of the Phi Chapter of the Theta Chi Fraternity.

Kenneth truly enjoyed living and working on the farm. He and son Andy were recognized in 1999 as U.S. Zero Till Farmer of the Year. He took great pride in cheering on his children and the successful programs at WCHS.

Kenneth Arthur MOGEN and Linda Gail THORDAL were married on Mar 13, 1965 in Gary Lutheran Church, Gary, MN. Linda Gail THORDAL was born on May 16, 1944. Kenneth Arthur MOGEN and Linda Gail THORDAL had the following children:
