August Wilhelm (Bill) HOVLAND was born on Sep 2, 1914 in
Blooming Valley Twp, South Dakota. He died on Aug 31, 2002 in Bakersfield,
CA. Bill Hovland was a meteorologist in the Navy, and later for the
National Weather Service. He saw the explosion of the Hindenberg, and survived
the sinking of the aircraft carrier "Yorktown" during the battle of
Midway in World War II.
