'PUBLICATIONS'. This web site was preceded by three documents, each of which was circulated to my immediate relations. Some of the contents are reproduced here. The first which was produced at the end of 1999, entitled 'What Went On Before Tom, John and Don' was made up of over 120 pages. Apart from narrative and various trees it included certain extracts from the local newspaper 'The Newport Advertiser' which recorded the unruly and troublesome behaviour of Newport Shropshire's post famine Irish immigrants (including a reference or two to my own forebears!). Also from that newspaper, articles were included on Newport's football team at the start of the 20th Century, produced from my own research. I have included copies of the latter within 'Moran Miscellaneous' (see Branches of the Moran Family).
The second booklet entitled 'Mor' an' More', distributed a year later, was less of a tome and source of boredom. It served, in the main, to update its predecessor.
Another twelve months on 'No More Tenebris' shed some light on the (until then) uncertain circumstances which surrounded the death of my great grandfather and namesake in the U.S.A.. For this find I will be eternally grateful for the considerable skill of a wonderful researcher and friend from California.
One of the aims of this website is to replace these annual 'firelighters' - pictured below. That said, I hope they will remain useful sources for reference.
ALL THREE OF THESE ARE NOW AVAILABLE, TOGETHER WITH UP-TO-DATE TRANSCRIPTS OF 'MORANNOUNCEMENTS', ON ONE C.D. ENTITLED
'THE MORANTHOLOGY'
