The Morgan Society was formed on Friday 29 April 1994 at a Special Inaugural Meeting in the Morgan Room at Tredegar House, Newport, Gwent, Wales, to advance the study of genealogy and the history of the name Morgan and all persons with the surname and connected families.

It is a voluntary, non-profit-making organisation dependent on the support of those interested in the study of family history.

The Morgan Society is a member of the Federation of Family History Societies

The Annual General Meeting of the Morgan Society is held the second week-end each May.
