Next Generation -
Anne Morrisroe b. 1874 Tonregee, Co. Mayo, Ireland married John Francis
Broderick of Co. Kerry. There were 8 children. One of those children
was Catherine.
At the age of 16 while the family lived in Willoughby, Ohio Catherine
gave birth (in the bathroom) to a baby knowone knew about. The baby was named Loretta Ann Broderick.
|
Catherine's
older brother was Edwin (ET) Broderick, Editor of the Lake County
News-Herald in Willoughby, Ohio.
The
news of
the birth of a child to his "little sister" would have been scandulous.
This is discussed in the original adoption file. The baby Loretta was
given to the "Sisters of St. Ann" in Cleveland, Ohio. She was soon
after adopted by Laura Daily Evans Newkirk and William Adair
Newkirk. She was renamed Jane Newkirk.
