Ma and Boys
MA BARKER AND HER BOYS

Ma Barker, her sons (all but one) and her husband are all buried in a nice cemetery called Williams Timberhill, which is actually situation in Craig Co., however you can throw a rock and hit the Ottawa Co. line.  Adding these few notes we thought would make for interesting reading.  The basic information came from the book "Oklahombres."   The picture of Kate was part of a picture of her and a friend, and has been cropped.  Pictures of the boys (only 2 of them) are copies of their prison pictures.  I do not know who or where they came from.    The grave pictures we took ourselves just the other day.

Ma's real name is reported to be Anzona Donne Clark, born 1877 in Missouri.  Somewhere along the line the name Kate came into the picture.  On September 14, 1892 she married George Elias Barker.  They had four sons, Herman, Arthur (called Doc), Lloyd and Fred.

Have no pictures of Lloyd Barker.  After being released from prison, he had decided to go straight.  His luck was not too good.  He was killed about 2 years later by his wife in their home in Colorado.  She was placed in an insane asylum.  Since none of his family was still alive, there was no one to claim his body and have it moved to Timberhill so he could be buried with his father, mother, and brothers.

This is just a funeral home marker, and no birth date was shown.  Even though he and Kate were separated, he is still buried with her and three of his boys.

Notice that Ma Barker was killed Jan. 16, 1935, but was not buried until October of 1935.  Her body and the body of her son Fred, were claimed by George Elias.

Fred was also killed Jan. 13, 1935 and not buried until October of 1935

Arthur "Doc" Barker died June 1939.  He was doing time at Alcatraz, and in an escape attempt was fatally shot.  First buried in California identified by his prison number.  His father later brought him back and he was buried in Welch along with his family.

Herman is the only one with a real headstone believed to have been put there by his wife or girlfriend.  I understand that he committed suicide during a gunfight with police.
