From The Welsh Burying Ground
The Welsh Burying Ground extended from Market to Oak (Now Ludlow) between 40th and 41st sts. It was purchased in 1809 by the St Davids Society, whose surviving trustees conveyed it, in 1934, to the Welsh Society. The bodies were removed in 1864, to section 203 Mount Moriah Cemetery.
(Letter dated Oct. 12, 1929 from Mr. John T. Richards, Secretary of The Welsh Society. Smedly: Atlas of Philadelphia 1862. Records of Mt Moriah Cemetery).
