John Adye of Doddington, will dated 9 April 1574

My bodie to be buried in the Churche of Doddington
I geve to the poore mens boxe of the parishe of Doddington 10 shillings
Item I geve to Agnes Adye, daughter of Nicholas Adye and to Mary Henneker my sisters Daughter eche of them 40 shillings to be payed to them at the severall dayes of there mariage

The Residue of all my moveable goodes & cattelles, my debtes, legacyes & Funerall being payed & discharged, I geve and bequeth to Mabell my wife and John my sonn and Johan my Daughter Equallie to be devided betwene them

Item whereas I owe unto William Baker sonne of Thomas Baker �36 6s 9d as appereth by and Indenture whose date is the last of December in the Sixte yere of our Soverayngne Quene Elizabeth, And whereas also I have receaved certeyne profitte of a feild called Clatterfeild to the use of the said William, I will that in Recompence thereof he shall have �40 to be payd to him at the day lymitted in the said Indenture

Item I ordeyne and make my said sonne John to be my sole Executor of this my Testament & laste will

As towching the disposition of all my landes and Tenements
First I will that Mabell my wife shall have the profittes of my house and garden at Bredgate strete during her naturall lief uppon condicon that she shall not clayme any Joynter or dower oute of my landes which I have solde saving onely �5 a yere during her lief whereof she hathe a deede Indended which said �5 a yere I will she shall have out of my landes in Doddington according to the said deede Indented

Also I will to the said Mabell my wife my newe Parlor and the little Buttrey in the same with the Chamber over them and also sufficiente fuell or fyer wood to be broughte to the said howse yerely during her naturall lyfe yf she keepe her self sole and unmaryed

Item I will that after the decease of the said Mabell my wife the said house and Garden being at Bredgate strete shall remayne to Johan my daughter To have and to holde to her & her heyres for ever in Fee symple
Also I geve to the said Johan my daughter the Tenement and land lying att Lydging in the parisshes of Boxley, Gillingham & Chattham which I and the said Johan late purchased Joynetly of one John Chamber To have and to holde to her & her heyres for ever

The Residue of all my messuages landes & Tenements with all and Singuler ther appurtenances lying and being in Duddington aforesaid and Ulcombe and Elswhere in the countie of Kente I geve and bequeth to my said sonne John To have & to holde to him and his heyers for ever

In wytnesse whereof to this my presente Testament & last will I have sett my hand
These being wytnesses Robert Barnes, John Adye the younger, Robert Tyckner, William Forke and others
