Will of Thomas Allay otherwise Cooke

In the name of God Amen the tenth day of April in the yeare of our Lord One thowsand Six hundred fifty seaven
I Thomas Allay otherwise Cooke of Tenterden in the County of Kent Yeoman being of perfect minde and memory, God be prayse therefore, doe make and ordaine this my last will and testament in manner and forme followeing

First I give and bequeath to Elizabeth my now wiefe one red Cowe, two payre of Sheets, two pillowcoats, one Coverlett and litle brasse Stupnet and one iron ketle to be delivered to her by myne Executor hereafter named Also my will and minde is, that my said wiefe shall have the keepeing of the said Cowe and her dwelling in and at the hows I now live in, by the space of three months gratis, if she please to accept thereof

Also I will and give to my daughter Elizabeth the now wiefe of William Hucksted one full fourth part of my howsehold stuffe not before given to be delived unto her by myne Executor within one yeare next after my death
Also I give and bequeath unto my sonne John Allay Tenn pounds of good English money to be paid him at his age of one and twenty yeares by myne Executor
Also I give and bequeath unto my sonne James Allay Tenn pounds of good English money to be paid him at his age of one and twenty yeares by myne Executor

Also I give and bequeath unto my said sonne John Allay at his age of three and twenty yeares to him his heires and assignes for ever, All that one barne, one lodge, Stable buildings and appurtenncs [appurtenances] thereunto belonging and one close and three peeces of or parcells of land with the appurtenncs conteyning Tenn acres more or lesse Scituate lyeing and being in the parishes of Cranbrook and Gowdhurst [Goudhurst] in the said County of Kent, or in one of them, and now in the occupacon of Matthew Newby or his assignes

Also I give and devise unto my said Sonne James Allay at his age of three and twenty yeares, to him his heies and assignes for ever All those messuages or tenements one Stable one orchard close, garden and two peeces or parcells of land thereunto apperteyning conteyning six acres more or less with the appurtenncs Scituate lyeing and being in Cranbrook aforesaid, and now in the occupacon of the said Matthew Newby and _____ Quoyfe or their assignes [Walter Quofye – he lived at Cranbrook?]

And my will and mind is that my said Executor shall receive and take the rents and profitts of all the premises given to my said Sonnes John and James for and towards their maynetenance and educacon untill they atteyne their said severall ages of three and twenty yeares, saveing and keepeing the premisses tight & tenant like, and doeing noe wilfull strip or wast * to the premisses

Also I give and devise to my sonne Thomas Allay and to his heires and assignes for ever, All that Messuage or tenement outhowses and buildings garden orchard lands and appurtenncs thereunto belonging Scituate lying and being in Cranbrooke aforesaid and now in the occupacon of John Kary or his assignes

Also it is my will and minde that my executor shall yearly pay unto my Sister Mary the now wiefe of Thomas Bancombe five shillings dureing her naturall liefe half yearely to be paid her

Also my will and minde is that my Executor shall sell all my Oxen Cowes geilding and fowre Mares and the money thereof arising to pay Elizabeth Nash and Agnes Nash the daughters of George Nash late of Gowdherst deceased at such tyme as the same shalbe come due and payable unto them and either of them to each of them Thirtie pounds

And I doe hereby deire my freinds Richard Acton & William Hucksted to be Overseers of this my last will, and to be aydeinge and assisting to my said Sonne Thomas Allay in the execucon of this my said testament and last will

And I doe hereby nominate & make my said sonne Thomas Allay the sole and whole Executor of this my Testament and last will to whom for and towards the paymy. of my debts and satisfieing and p'formeing of this my last will and testament, I give and bequeath all the residue of my goods and Chattells whatsoever

And in Witnes whereto this my present last will and testament I have hereunto putt my hand and Seale conteyning three Sheets of paper, dated the day and yeare first above written

William Huckstepp Wm. Chevill and John Leigh Junr. Exd.
