In the Name of God Amen I David Ashdown of the parish of Westerham in the County of Kent Bricklayer being of sound mind memory and understanding thanks be to Almighty God for the same Do make ordain Publish and declare this to be my last Will and Testament in manner and form following that is to say

I Give Devise and Bequeath all that my Messuage or Tenement with the Yard Garden backside Orchard and Appurtenances together with the eight Acres of Land thereunto belonging Situate lying and being in the Parish of Lympesfield in the County of Surry and now in the Occupation of Thomas Reed unto John Burgis of Brastead in the County of Kent Tanner and Reginalt Norton of the same place Butcher for and during the term of the natural life of my Wife Elizabeth Ashdown
In Trust only to permit her to receive the Rents and Profits thereof during the term of such her natural life
and from and after the Determination of that Estate I Give Devise and bequeath the same unto my Son David Ashdown of Brastead aforesaid Bricklayer and to his Heirs

and as to what Personal Estate it has pleased God to bless me with I Give and Dispose thereof as follows
I Give Devise and Bequeath all my Household Furniture of what nature or kind soever in my now Dwelling House at Westerham aforesaid unto my said Wife Elizabeth for her natural life
and from and after her decease I Give Devise and Bequeath the same equally between my son David aforesaid and my two Daughters Mary the Wife of Joseph Squib and Ann late the wife of Richard Waters deceased

and as to all the rest of my Personal Estate whatsoever after Payment of all my Just Debts and Funeral Expences I Give Devise and Bequeath the same unto my Son David Ashdown aforesaid In Trust to collect the same into one fund after my decease as he possibly can and pay thereout to my said Wife Elizabeth twenty pounds within one Month after my decease and the remainder to place out at Interest on some good Security or Securitys and such Interest as shall arise therefrom to pay to my said Wife Elizabeth for the Term of her natural life

and from and after her decease upon further Trust out of such Principal Money so collected into one fund as aforesaid to pay
my said Daughters Mary and Ann fifty pounds a Piece
To my Grandsons David Ashdown William Ashdown and to my Grandaughters Elizabeth Ashdown and Sarah Ashdown five Pounds a Piece
To my Grandson John Waters five Pounds
to my Grandaughter Mary Waters five Pounds
to my Grandaughter Mary Squib five Pounds
and the Remainder after Payment as aforesaid I Give Devise and bequeath to my said Son David for his own use and benefit

and appoint my said Son David Executor and residuary Legatee of this my said last Will and Testament
In Witness whereof I the said Testator have hereunto set my hand and Seal this twenty seventh day of March One Thousand Seven hundred and Seventy One The mark of David Ashdown
