In the name of God Amen The vijthe daye of februarye in the yere from thincarnatyon [the incarnation] of our Lorde Jhus [Jesus] Christe ali? vC lii [1552/53] And in the vth yere of the reigne of our Soveraigne Lorde Edwarde the Sixte By the grace of God Kyng of Englande fraunce and Irlande, defender of the faithe and in erthe of the churche of yngland and also of Irlande the Supreme head
I Richard Asten of the parishe of Sandherste beyng hole of mynde and p[er]fitt memory Lawded be God make my testamente and Laste Will in maner and forme folowinge Firste I bequethe my Soule to almightie God And my bodye to be buryed in the church yearde of Sandherste aforesaide

Item I will that Agnes my Wif shalhave all suche Stufe of howshold as that she broughte to me at the tyme of our mariage
[This next part is crossed through: to be paide to her and her assigneis according to the wrytyng thereof made Also I will give & bequeth]

Also I will that Agnes my wif shalhave yearlye (for the) terme of her life the same a xxvjs viijd the whiche I graunted to her at the daye of our maryage to be paide to her and her assignees accordinge to the wrytyng thereof made

Also I ordeigne and bequeth to John, Nichas and William my Sonnes all my moveable goods and Cattallis not bequethid nor assigned equally betwixte them And eiche [each] of them to be (the) others heire And I will that every of them shall bere a like portion to the paying of my debtes

And as towching all my Lands and tentis [tenements] wt thapprtenncs [with the appurtenances] I will ordeigne and bequethe them equallye betwene the said John, Nichas and William my sonnes to be equallye Shifte [divided] betwene them Then when the yongist of them comythe to thage of xxijti [22] yeres
And if it happen that anye of the saide John, Nichas and William my sonnes dye before that the come to their ages of xxijti yeres withowte heires of their bodies Laufully begotten That Then I will that eiche shalbe others heire of them

Also I will that if my moveable goods be not able to paye my debtis Then I will my Lands and tentis shall goo to farme unto suche tyme as that there be so muche money receavid of the same to paye my debtis
Also I will when my debtis be paide that eiche of my sonnes shall take the profite of their portion of my saide Lands and tentis when that they come to their age of xvj yeres

And if it happen that all my sonnes dye before that they come to ther(e) age of xxijti yeres wtowte heires of ther(e) bodies Laufully begotten Then I will that all my saide Lands & tentis with thapprtenccs shall remaigne to Bennet Pyper my Daughter and to her heires and assign for ever
And I will that the saide Bennet and her assigneis shall paye owte of the same to the mariage of Joane her daughter a xxls?

Also I will that ther(e) shalbe distrybuted at my buryeng amonge poore people wher(e) most nede is a iijs iiijd
Item I bequeth to eiche of my godchildren a iiijd

Item I ordeigne and make John, Nichas and William my sonnes to be myne Executors
And I will that Andrewe Piper my sonne in Lawe shalbe myne overesear And he to have for his Labor when that he hathe Buisynes abowte this my presente testamente and Last will every daie a vijd And if he do ride abowte the same to have a xijd
