In the name of God Amen The thirteenth day of June in the yeare of our Lord one thousand sixe hundred forty and three and of the reigne of our Soveraigne Lord Charles by the Grace of God King of England, Scotland, France & Ireland, the nineteenth; Defender of the Faith &c.
I Thomas Atwood in the Parish of Great Hardres in Kent Yeoman being weake in body but of a good and perfect remembrance (God be thanked therefore) doe make ordeine & appoint this my Last will and Testament in manner (and) forme and following
First I bequeath my soule unto Almighty God Hoping to be saved onely by the mercy of God Thorough faith in the death and the meritts of his sonne Jesus Christ, and I will my body decently to bee buried in the Parish aforesaid

Item I will and devise my land at Palmested with the Messuage, Barne and other appurtenances thereunto belonging to my sonne Richard Atwood and the Heyres males of his body lawfully begotten
paying to Susan Fisher my daughter the summe of tenne shillings yeerly during hir naturall Life, and after hir decease paying seven pounds to be distributed equally amongst hir children the issue of hir bodie which she hath now or shall have by Michaell Fisher hir present husband

Item I bequeath to Mary the wife of John Pitcher seven pounds to bee paid within three yeares after my decease
Item I will and bequeath to my Daughter Anne the wife of Abraham Atwood seven pounds to bee paid within two yeares after my decease
Item I bequeath to Thomas Atwood the sonne of Abraham Atwood my sonne when he shall bee eighteene yeares of Age, if hee bee brought up to the trade of Weaving otherwise to remaine for ever with my executor

Item I will and bequeath to my wife the roome where I now lye and the Bed and Bedsted with all the furniture thereunto belonging for her use for the terme of hir naturall life and free access to the fire in the hall, and if shee shall bee disturbed or molested that shee cannot quietly enjoy that roome, I will hir three pounds of my land at Palmested by the yeare to provide hir a roome as long as shee lives
Item I further will and bequeath unto my said wife all my Linnen, Halfe the Hempe now growing upon the ground, two quarters of Wooll and hir chest standing in the toome where I now ly all these to bee at hir disposall to bestow where shee will

Item I will and bequeath five shillings to bee distributed to such poore of this parish as Mr. Lefox Hards and my executor shall thinke good at ye day of my Buriall

Item all the rest of my monyes, goods and chattells not disposed of by this my will I bequeath to my sonne Richard Atwood, whom I constitute my sole E[xe]cutor of this my last will and testament

This is the Last Will and Testament of mee the aforesaid Thomas Atwood in Testimony thereof I have heereunto set my hand and seale the day and yeare above written in the presence of
