In the name of God Amen I Robert Austen of the parishe of Adysham, sicke in body, but perfecte in r[e]mebraunce do make this my testament and laste will
Firste I bequethe my soule to allmightie God the father and to his sonne Jhus christe theroughe the merites of whose passion I do p[er]fectely beleve to have my Salvacon And I will my bodye to be buried in the church or churcheyarde of Adysham at the discression of myne executors

Also I bequethe to the highe aultorr [altar] a vjs viijd [6s 8d]
Also I bequethe to the byeng of a copt for the churche aforsayd a xxxiijs iiijd [33s 4d]
Also I will that my exutrs [executors] doo delyver unto the churche a xxs [20s]

Also I bequethe to Elizabeth Moules at the day of her mariage iij li vjs viijd [£3 6s 8d]
Also I will to Katherine Moules at the day of her mariage a xxs
Also I bequethe to Elizabeth before named ij paier of shetes and one cov[e]rlete at the same day or vs 6d bye a moneth; and one bullocke, iiij platters and one honeste candlesticke
Item I bequethe to Katheryne her Sister ij payer of shetes and one covrlete or a vs, iij platters and one honeste candlesticke
Item I bequethe to eche of them one gowne of ij yarde and iijs or vs yardes and a halfe to be delyvered agaynste their mariage day by the overseer of my will withe the premisses
And if it happen them to dye before th'other and before any of them be maried Then I will the longer lyver to have the vte yardes and a half

Item I bequethe to Thomas Austen my eldest sone my ij ten[emen]tes with the Landes unto them belonginge from the p[ar]sanage unto Rychnds and so up to suche
Also I bequethe to Rychard Austen my seconde sone my tentes wt th'apprten[a]nces called Laddes and also Rychnds
Also I bequethe to Vallentyne Austen my thirde sone my tentes wt th'apprtennces and Landes lyeng and being in the parishe of Bridge with my tente wt th'apprtennce and Landes lyeng at Bledding
Item I bequethe unto John Austen my youngest sone my tente in the Dane that he dwelleth in, with my tente called Sakers wt their apprtenncs and landes belonging unto them excepte the closse at the house tree gate
So that yf he dye wthoute Issue lawfully begotten Then I will the same tentes and lands to remayne to his brothers that then shalbe alyve, and to be equally dyvided amongest them

Item I bequethe to William Austen the sone of Rycharde Austen my sone my tente that Lyethe by the sole so that the poore woman that were lyeth there have chamber dureing her life paying a ijd by the yeare towards the reparing thereof
Item I bequethe to Rychard Austen my sone my tente wt thapprtennce called the Ailehouse
Item I bequethe to my iiijer sones Thomas, Rycharde, Vallentyne and John my mershes lyeng and being in the parishe of Wickhambreaux equally to be divided amonge them

Also I will that a xxs be given to poore people in Almes at the daye of buriall And a xxs at my monthes mynde, And a xxs at my twelvmonthes mynde
Also I will that xt prestes do say masse and pray for my Soule at the day of my buriall and eche of them to have for their labors a vjd a pece
Item I will likewise at my monthes mynde and so at my xij monthes mynde

Item I will that mother Kempe, mother in lawe to my sone John have ij acres of wheate and ij of barley wiche I will to be delyvered unto of the selder?
Also I will that my sone Rycharde have of my corne in the barne of suche wheate xxx quarters paying for every quarter xijd
And I will that he have of seade barley lxt [40] quarters, payng for them a xiiij li
Item I will the corne to paye this yeares farme that is pastre be taken oute of the grayne that is in my barne

Item I bequethe to Rycharde Austen the sone of Thomas Austen my sone my tente wiche I did late purchase of Mr. Isake in the dane
Item I bequethe to John Austen my youngest sone vj acres of grownde livng before Raling Banks the righte way going thoroughe hit

Item I bequethe to Nycholas Farman ij yardes of brode [broad] clothe price the yarde a iijs and in money a xxs
Item I bequethe to Peter my servannte so muche cloth of like price and a xiijs & iiijd
Item I bequethe to eche of my godchildren one shepe commonly called an ewe
Item I bequethe to John Johnson of Goodneston a xiijs & iiijd
Item I will that my sone Rycharde have the anpieng? of suche horse this yere as be myne to till the grounde to the farme And I will that he shall have of my moveables by a price xl pounds
Item I bequethe to Margerye my servannt iiij busshelles of barley
And to my godson Roberte Godfrey asannht?
Item I bequethe to my sone Rycharde viijth be[a]stes commonly called kyne
And I will my sone Valentyne have all the residewe of my kyne excepte one bullocke or a hayfer

Also I will that my sone Rycharde have viijth horses, vjth of the beste and the fyllow withe one of the other sorte paying for them a vij li And th'other to be equally amongest my iiij sones
Item I will he have all ....tes, ploughes and cartes, excepte one paier of carte rodes, whiche I give to my sone John
And I will that John Austen my sone have a xxxiijs & iiijd to be [buy?] a paier of carte rodes wiche I give to my son John
Item I bequethe to Rycharde Austen my sone one Silver pece p[ar]cell gilte and ij Spo[o]nes of Silver
Item I will to Thomas my sone ij Spones of Silver
Item I will to Valentyne my sone iij Spones of Silver
And to John my sone one mazer

Item I will to my sone Rycharde one C of shepe [100 Sheep]
To my sone Thomas xl of shepe
to my sone Valentyne one C of shepe
And to my sone John one C of Shepe
Also I bequethe to my sone Rycharde iij partes of my household stuffe
And the iij partes to be divided betwixte my other iij sones Thomas, Valentyne and John

Also I will that my sone Rycharde have of suche grayne as ys in my barne a xls quarters of barley to make malte and xvj of wheate and xvjth of barley to kepe his house this yeare wtout [without] payment for hit
Also I bequethe to Vallentyne Austen my sone iiij wewyne [weaning?] pigges and to my sone John so many
Also I bequethe to Marmaduke Fare may [Fairmay?] a cote clothe, a hose clothe, price ijs and a do[u]blet
Item I bequethe to S(B?)uselle one hose clothe, price a ijs [Russell?}

Item I will that if Payne be continted as I and he were agreed That then he have a x li [£10] that is due unto me to be paid for a Ten[emen]te solde at Bridge;
And th'other a x li to be reysed of my moveables And my executors to paye the said x li
And yf Payne be not contented according to th'agrement betwene us Then I will that my sone Richard have the same a xx li
Also I give to my sone Rycharde all my podwere [e.g. peas] and hoggs fre[e]ly Also I give to him the croste at the house ture.. goche?

Also I bequethe to Roberte Austen the sone of Thomas Austen my sone my tente there as the tyler dwelleth wiche is withe nedle worke
Also I will and give to John Austen my sone x seames of barley to be payd by his other iij brothers indifferatly
Also I will that none of my executors or iiij sones do clayme or require any pa[r]cell or Some of money that I have paid for them or have lent unto them as dette at any tyme, but that I have firstly forgiven suche som or somes of money unto them for ever

Also I will that John Johnson be Overseer of this my last will, by whome I will and require my iiij sones Thomas, Rychard, Valentyne and John Whome I do ordeyn to be my executors to be ordered and ruled in all my bequethes and other unbequethes according to this my laste will

And if any of them do stryve one wt an other or agaynste an other for any p[ar]cell or hole of moveables or unmoveables bequethed unto him or them and will not be orderyd by the overseer according and not contrary to my will, then I will that he or them that shall so straine and will not be ordered as aforsayd shalbe voide and wtoute [without] the moveables and unmoveables before bequethed unto him or them by will, and to be amongeste the other that will be ordered and contented according to my will

And then I will the Residewe of my goodes as well moveables as unmoveables, my dettes and bequethes payd, to be at the disposiccon of my sones that will be honestly ordered according to this my laste will and testamente
made in the xxxvj yere of our Soveraigne lorde King Henry th'eight and in the monthe of November the xxiijth [23rd] day [1544]
