In the name of God Amen The Sixte day of November and in the xxiiijth yere of the Raigne of o[u]r Soveraigne Ladye Quene Elizabethe etc.
I Edmond Austen of the parish of Adesham in the Countye of Kent do make and ordayne this my last will and testament in maner and forme following
Fyrst I will my Soule unto Allmightie God trusting by the death & passion of my lord and saviour Jesus Christ to have full remission and forgivenes of all my sinnes And my bodye to be buryed in the Churchyard of the p[ar]ishe of Adesham aforesaid

First I will unto the poore of Adesham ten shillings
Item I will unto John Maxstede a yeres dwelling in his house paying nothing for it but two pence if it be demaunded of my heyres
Item I geve unto Thomas Peake a seame of wheate and a seame of malt
Item I will to fowre to carry me to the churche eight shillings
Item I will unto mother Handaye tenne shillings
Item I will unto my wyfes mother fyve poundes
Item I will unto Agnes Austen my brothers daughter twentie shillinges

All the residue of my goods, my detts being paid and my legacyes p[er]formed, the one half I will to Richardyne my wyfe; And the other half to Jane Austen my daughter and to the childe my wyfe nowe goethe withe

Item I will unto Rychardyne my wyfe my house and landes and other buildings that John Maxted dwellethe in and the landes therto apertayning and the eleven acres during her naturall lyfe comytting no wast and paying the lordes rent and keping necessary repracons

And after her decease I will it to the childe my wyfe nowe goethe with if it be a man childe to hym and to his heyres for ever
And if it be a woman childe Then I will the said eleven acres to my brother Robert Austen and to his heyres for ever, paying thirtye poundes of laufull mony of England unto my child or children if ther be any lyving
And I will the Tenement that John Maxstede dwellethe in with all the landes therto aperayning to my brother Thomas Austen and to his heyres for ever, paying thirtye poundes of laufull mony of England unto my child or children if ther be any lyving

Item I will unto every one of my godchildren an ewe a pece
Provided also that if my wyfe dye Then I will my Brother Thomas Austen shall have the keping of my child or children and their porcon of goods, putting in Bonde to answere them againe at mariage or els at full age whiche shall firste happen

And I make Rychardyne my wyfe and Thomas Austen my brother my executors and Robert Austen my brother my Overseer

Provided further that if Rychardyne my wyfe & the childe that she goethe withe dye Then I will that Robert Austen and John Austen my brother Thomas Austens sonnes shall have twentye poundes a pece
And my goddaughter Anne Austen fyve poundes of the goods that I have willid my wyfe

In Wittnes whereof I the said Edmond Austen have put my hand

Probatum fuit: 10th November 1582

Note: Edmund Austen was buried at Holy Innocents, Adisham, Kent on 9th November 1582.
