Will of Elizabeth Austen, Widow of Adisham, Kent In The name of God Amen The third day of June in the First yeare of the Raigne of o[u]r Soveraigne Lord Charles by the grace of God Kinge of England Scotland France & Ireland Defender of the faith &c. Annoq. dini 1629
I Elizabeth Austen of Adisham in the County of Kent widdowe beinge sicke of body but of sound & perfect memory (thankes bee given to Almighty God) doe make and ordeine this my last will and testament in manner & forme followinge, vizt.
Inprimis I Committ my soule to Almighty God hopinge and undoubtedly beelevinge to bee saved by the onely meanes & meadiation of my lord and saviour Jesus Christ And my bodye to the Earth to bee buried in decent & Christian buriall at the discretion of my Executor hereafter named

Item I give and bequeath to the divine minister for preachinge my funerall sermon the sume of tenn shillings
Item I give and bequeath unto the poore of the parishe of Adisham the sume of tenn shillings
Item I give and bequeath unto my sonne Michaell Austen the sume of twenty shillings of lawfull money of England to bee payd unto him w[i]thin fower monthes next after my decease

Item I give and bequeath unto my daughter Margaret Gibbs wife of Stephen Gibbs of Staple in the sayd County of Kent Yeoman the like sume of twenty shillings of like lawfull money of England to bee payd unto her wthin foure monthes next after my decease
Item I give and bequeath unto my daughter Elizabeth Rigden the sume of tenn shillings of like lawfull money of England to bee payd unto her wthin foure monthes next after my decease
Item I give and bequeath unto my grandchild Lawrence Gibbs sonne of my daughter Margarett the sume of twenty shillings to bee paid unto him wthin foure monthes next after my decease
Item I give and bequeath unto my grandchild Elizabeth Gibbes the like sume of twenty shillings to bee payd unto her wthin foure monthes next after my decease
Item I give and bequeath unto my grandchild William Gibbes the like sume of twenty shillings to bee payd unto him wthin foure monthes next after my decease
Item I give and bequeath unto my grandchild Sarah Gibbes the like sume of twenty shillings to bee payd unto her wthin foure monthes next after my decease

Item I give and bequeath unto my grandchild Anne Crambrooke, wife of John Crambrooke of Adisham aforesayd Yeoman all my househould stuffe (except one brasse pott wch I give unto Lawrance Gibbs her brother) and all other my provision whatsoever wch I am now possest of, together wth my two kyne to have and enjoy ymediately after my decease

Item all other my goods and estate whatsoever I give and bequeath unto my sonne Richard Austen of Adisham aforesayd, Yeoman, whom I make sole Executor of this my last will & testament hereby revokinge all former and other wills whatsoever

In witnes whereof I have hereunto sett my hand and seale the day and yeare first above written

Signed sealed and published by the above named Elizabeth Austen as her last will & testament in the presence of:
Thomas Odiarne?; Thomas Payne his marke; Thomas Knott his marke

Probatum fuit: 5th February 1629/30

Richard Austen married Elizabeth Soly 30 May 1575 at Holy Innocents, Adisham, Kent.
Elizabeth Austen, widow, wife of Mr Richard Austen was buried at Adisham 10 Jan 1629/30.
