In the Name of God Amen I Thomas Avard of the Parish of Brenchley in the County of Kent Cordwainer being in a bad state of health but of perfect mind and memory thanks be given to God calling unto mind the mortality of my body and knowing it is appointed for Men once to die do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament that is to say
principally and first of all I give and recommend my Soul into the hand of Almighty God that gave it and my body I recommend to the Earth to be buried in decent Christian burial at the discretion of my dearly beloved Wife nothing doubting but at the general resurrection I shall receive the same again by the might power of God and as touching such Worldly Estate wherewith it has pleased God to bless me with in this life I give demise and dispose of the same in the following manner and form

first I give and bequeath to my Son Thomas Avard the sum of one shilling
I also give and bequeath to my Son John and to each and every of my Children the sum of one shilling of lawful money of England to be paid them by my Executors hereinafter mentioned

and I also give and bequeath to my dearly beloved Wife all my property I may die possessed with at my decease whether it is Landed Property money book debts or whatever it may consist of at my decease

and I constitute make and ordain Richard Ellis Senior and my Son William Avard Executors of this my last Will and Testament who shall be Paid all reasonable expences attending the execution thereof
and I utterly disallow revoke and disannul all and every other former Wills Testaments legacies bequests and Executors by me in any wise before mentioned willed and bequeathed ratifying this and no other to be my last Will and Testament

In Witness whereof I have hereunto my Hand and Seal this eighteenth day of February one thousand eight hundred and twenty two Thomas Avard
