In the name of God Amen in the yeare of our Lord God [1553] and in the xvjth day of April
I Edmond Baker of Chilham in the Countie of Kent, Smythe, and in the dice [diocese] of Canterbury being in hole parfecte [whole (and) perfect] myne and memory, thankes be to God, but somewhat sicke and febell [feeble] of Body make this my last will and testament in manner and forme following
First I bequeith my Sowle to God the father the sonne and the holly goste [holy ghost] and my bodye to be buryed wtin [within] the parish churcheyarde of Chylham [Chilham] aforesaid

Item I bequeith to the poorlie of the said parishe in money or in money worth the daye of my buryall a xxs [20 shillings] and at the moneythe [month�s] daye to the said poorlie other a xxs

Item I give to Agnes Baker my daughter xxxl [�30] of money to be paid to the said Agnes at the daye of her marrage or ells [else] wtin shorte tyme after

Item I give to Elizabeth Baker my daughter xxxl [�30] of money to be paid to the said Elizabeth at the daye of her marrage or ells [else] wtin shorte tyme after

And if it fortune that Agnes Baker my daughter doo dye wtowt [without] aney yssue [any issue] of her bodye lawfully begotten then I will that Elizabeth Baker shall enioy [enjoy] the foresaid xxxl
And if it fortune that Elizabeth Baker my daughter doo dye wtowt [without] aney yssue [any issue] of her bodye lawfully begotten then I will that Agnes Baker shall enioy [enjoy] the foresaid xxxl
And yf it fortune that bot my daughters dye wtowt anye yssue of their bodyes lawfully begotten Then I will Edwarde Baker my sonne to have both his said sisters partes

And yf yt shall fortune the aforesaid Agnes Elizabeth and Edwarde to dye all thre wtowt anye yssue of their bodyes lawfully begotten Tat then I will the aforesaid sum of xxxl [document damaged here and unreadable for about three lines]

Item I give to John Ayrs a vjs xijd

Item I give to Johan my wif all the Resydue of my goodes and cattell excepte my tooles, that is to say my fordge the whole I will that Edward my sonne shall have after the decease of Johan my wif or ells xt in money

Item I will that Johan my wif shall have the occupienge [occupying] of all my landes and leases both in Chilham and Elham duringe her lif and she to kepe my howsing in sufficient reparacons and shall paye the rent to the Lord And after her decease then I will that Edward Baker my sonne shall have all my lands in Chilham and Elham aforesaid in fee symple to him (and) to his heyres for everand all my leases in Chilham and Elham aforesaid

And that this shall be knowen to be my very true will and last testament I have caused this to be written the daye and year above written
Also I do ordeyne and make Johan my wife my hole [whole] Executrix

And I do make my welbeloved frinde [friend] John Adey one Overseer of this my will and testament and he to have for his paynes takinge his costes and chardges borne xxs And William Turner the Younger of Chilham to be the other Overseer and he to have for his paynes takinge his costes and chardges borne xs

Witnesses that this is the very laste will and true testament of Edmonde Baker of Chilham aforesaide

Probatum fuit: xxj July Anno Dini 1553

Notes:
Parish Registers do not commence in Chilham until 1558, so Edmond Baker�s burial is not found.
Wife Johan dies and is buried at St. Mary Chilham in 1559.
