In the name of God Amen The tents [tenth] daie of August in the twentieth yere of the raigne of our Soveraigne Lady Quene Elizabeth by the Grace of God Quene of England Frannce and Ireland, defender of the fayth, etc.
I Richard Baker of Westwell in the Countie of Kent Yeoman being of good and parfect remembrannce, thankes be to God, Do make and ordeyne this my present testament and last will in manner & forme following, That is to saye,
First I comend my Soule unto almighty God my maker and redemer [redeemer] and my bodye to be buried in the churchyard of Westwell aforesaid

Item I will to John Baker my sonne my lease and terme of yeres yet to come of an in Sixe perc or prclls [parts of parcels] of land and brooke called Cowlease, Nightlease, Oldebrome, Conyfeild and Court threacres [three acres] conteyning by estimacon thre score acres being in westwell aforesaid which I late had of John Tufton Esquire

Item I give & will unto the sayd John Baker my sonne all my moveable goods, household stuffe, corne, debts and Cattells to the intent that the said John his heyres Exor. [Executors] or assignes paye unto Dorothy Terry now wyfe of Henry Terry twentie shilings of lawfull money of England yerely during the terme of her life, at some usually termes or fests [feasts] in the yere to be payd, That is to say, the Annuncyation [Annunciation] of our Lady Mary the Virgin and the Nativytie of Saint John the Baptist by even porcons the first payment ther of [thereof] to begine at that feast of the feasts aforesaid which shall first happen next after my decease

Provided allwayes and my will & mynd is that if the sayd Henry Terry now husband of the sayd Dorothe do at anytyme hereafter bargaine sell assigne or alien the sayd yerely payment of twentie shillings to any parson or parsons [person or persons] That then the payment thereof shall cease and be [no]longer payd
And also I ordayne and make the said John Baker my sole executor of this my present testament and last will

This is the last Will of me the said Richard Baker by me made and p�sonally [personally] declared the day and yere abovesayd touching the disposition of all those my sevrll [several] manors called Werholy and Daneland being in the sayd parishe of Westwell aforesayd together wth [with] all the rents and customes services and all the appertaining to the said maners [manors] apperteyning or in any wise belonging, which said two s�vall [several] maners (sic) with all the rents, customes, services And all there app�tennance [appurtenances] to them or any of them belonging I will and give to the said John Baker my sonne To be had to hym his heyres and assignes for ever

In Witnes hereof I the said Richard Baker have caused these presents to be made & thereto have sett my hand and sale And have declared the same to be my last will and testament in the presence of
Lawrence Michell & John Oinkone (?)

Probatum fuit: viij March 1579.

Notes:
Richard Baker was buried at St. Mary, Westwell on 6th February 1579, �Howsholder�.
Most annoyingly, I cannot find the christenings of his children named in the Will.
Parish registers for St. Mary, Westwell, commence in 1558.
