In the name of God Amen the nyneth daye of August 1597 in the Nyne & thirteth yere of the Reigne of or Sovreigne Lady Elizabeth by the grace of God Queene of England Fraunce and Irelande Defender of the faith, &c.
I Edmunde Baker of Bredmer in the p[ar]ish of Folkestone in the countie of Kent being sicke in my body at Gods pleasure but whole and sounde of my remembrannce (thanks be to God) doe make this my last will and testament in mannr and forme followinge
First and principally I bequeath my soule unto the hands of almightie God my maker and to Jesus Christ my alone and onely redeemer by whose p[re]cious bloudsheding I beleeve most stedfastly to be saved And to the holy Ghost my onely sanctifier And my bod(y) I will to the Earth from whence it came

Item I geve to the poore people of Folkestone aforesaide twoe shillings to be payde by my Executor
Item I geve and bequeath to Edmonde Edwardes and Thomas Maied my godchildren either of them twelve pence
Item I gyve unto Agnes Baker my daughter my two yereinge hafe [heifer] couller browne goare and my great brasse pott
Item I gyve and bequeath to Alice my daughter Twenty pounds of Lawfull money of England to be payde unto her by my Executor when shee shall accomplish the age of one and twentie yeres or at the daye of her marryage wch shall first happen

The reasidue of all my moveable goods and Chattle whatsoevr my debts Legacies and other Chardgs distchardged I gyve and bequeath wholy to Alice my wyffe whome I make ordeyne and appoynte sole Executrix of this my Last Will and Testament

This is the last will and testam[en]t of me the saide Edmond Baker made the Daye and yere first above written, Concernying all my houses and Lands wch I have in the p'ish of Folkestone aforesaide or ells where in the countie of Kent

First I will and bequeath all my howses and Lands to Alice my Wyffe dureing the terme of her naturall lyfe
And after her decease I will gyve and bequeath my said howses and Lands to Agnes Baker my daughter and to her heires forever in Fee simple, So as shee paye or cause to be payde to Alice my daughter wthin three yeres next after the death of the said Alice my Wyffe the Some of Tenn pounds of Lawfull money of England

And yf the said tenn pounds be not payde unto her in such mannr and forme and within such tyme as is before lymyted Then I will and my true meaning is that the said Alice my daughter shall enter into one p[ar]cell of my Land called Uppingwell meddowe conteyninge by estimacon one Acre and one halfe Lyinge next the p[ar]ke of Folkestone aforesaid To the parke aforesaide East and North, and the highwaye west and north and the same to have and enioye to her and her heires forevr in fee simple any thinge in this my present Will mencioned to the contrary notwthstanding

Edmon Baker was buried at SS Mary and Eanswythe, Folkestone, Kent on 13 Sep 1597.
Daughter Agnes Baker was bap. 6 dec 1579 at Folkestone. Agnes Baker married Thomas Baker, Yeoman, on 18 Jul 1597 at St. Martin, Cheriton, Folkestone
Daughter Alce Baker was baptised there on 3 Sep 1583.
