In the name of God Amen the Tenth day of September Anno Regin Regis mi Caroli Anglia Scotia France et tulerma.? &c. decimo tertio 1637
I Henry Baker the Elder of Pedling in the parish of Saltwood in the Countie of Kent Yeoman, Sicke of bodie but of good and perfect memorie (God be praysed) doe make and ordaine this my last will and Testament in manner and forme following (That is to saie)
First I Comend my soule into the hands of God my maker hoping assuredly through the onely meritts of Jesus Christ my Saviour to bee made p[ar]taker of life everlasting And I Comend my bodie to the earth whereof it is made to be buried in the Churchyeard of the parish of Saltwood

Item I give to the poore of the same parishe tenn shillings To bee distributed by myne Executor heereafter named
Item I give unto Elizabeth my wife the bedsteddle and bedd whereon shee lyes with two blanketts, two coverletts, one pillowe, two boulsters and halfe my sheetes and one Chest standinge att the bedds foote and one boxe called my Wives boxe

Item I give unto my eldest sonne Thomas Baker twentie pounds and to my sonne John Baker twentie pounds
Item I give to my daughter Margarett Johncocke tenn pounds
And to my daughter Rebecca Lee five pounds
to be severally paid unto them by my Executor within one yeare next after my decease

Item I will and bequeath unto my daughter Elizabeth’s six Children tenne shillings a peece to bee paid them at their severall ages of one and twentie yeares And soe many of them as are alreadie of the age aforesaid my meaning is shallbe paid them within one yeare next after my decease
Item I give unto my daughter Elisabeths daughters child now living tenn shillings To bee paid att its age of One and twentie yeares

Item I give unto David Ovell [Oldfield] sonne of my said daughter Rebecca twentie shillings att his like age of one and twentie yeares
And I alsoe give unto my sonne Edwards three sonnes John, Henrie and Thomas twentie shillings a peece to be paid them like wise att their said severall ages of one and twentie yeares
Item I give unto Thomas Hutson sonne of my daughter Sarah deceased twentie shillings To bee paid him within one yeare next after my decease
Item I give and bequeath unto Alice wife of Thomas Streating one other of the daughters of the said Sarah Twentie shillings To be paid her within one yeare alsoe next after my decease

And the residue of all my goods Cattells and debts after my debts bee paid my funerall expences performed and all their my legacies Contayned in this my present Testament fulfilled I whollie give and bequeath unto my sonne Edward Baker whome I doe hereby nominate make and ordaine my sole Executor of this my last will and Testament
And Lastly I give and bequeath unto Thomasin wife of my said Executor fortie shillings to bee paid her att the will and pleasure of my Executor

Notes:
Henry Baker senior was buried 14 Sep 1637 at SS Peter & Paul, Saltwood, Kent, aged 69 years.
Henry Baker had married Elizabeth Enmith 9 Jun 1582 at St. Martin, Cheriton.
Elizabeth Baker, widow of Henery, was buried at Saltwood 9 Jun 1638.
