In the name of God Amen The Twelveth day of October 1640
I John Baker of Faversham in the County of Kent Cordwayner beeinge sicke & weake in body but of good and p�fect [perfect] memory, thankes be to God therefore, doe make & ordeyne this my last will and Testament in manner and forme followinge
Imprimis I comend my Soule into the hands of Allmighty God trustinge through the merits of my Saviour Jesus Christ to be Saved and my body to the earth from whence it came to bee decentlye buried without pompe

Item I make and ordeyne Martha my loveinge Wife Sole Executrix of this my last will & Testament and Boys Oner of Faversham aforesaid gent. [gentleman] Overseer of this my last will and Testament

Item I give and bequeath unto my loveing wife Martha all my ready money chattells Cattells & houshould stuffe whatsoever within Faversham aforesaid or else where [elsewhere] within the Realme of England Upon Condicon shee paye my fuenrall expenses debts and legacyes hereafter menconed

Item I give unto my said loveing Wife my lease at Wappinge in the County of Middlesex Whereof I stand ingaged to Henry Pilcher of Challocke in lease for fower pounds & tenn shillinges the yeare
And it is my meaninge that my Sister Warden shall have all the p�fitt [profit] of that said lease at Woppinge besides the fower poundes and Tenn shillinges the yeare and after that lease expired that I stand engaged to the said Henry Pilcher the full p�fitt to bee payd by my executrix to my said Sister Warrdn [Warden?] and her heires duringe the terme of the said lease

And whereas I have a bond of Thomas Milles for one hundred pounds in my house which hundred pounds cannot be called in untill after the decease of my mother in lawe it is my Will and minde that my Wife within Twelve monethes next after my decease shall paye unto Mr. Oner aforesaid out of my moveable goods unto the use of my Brother Michell the said one hundred pounds And my will is that the said Mr. Oner shall have the disposeinge of the said hundred pounds untill my said Brother Michell come to his age of one and twenty yeares Which said hundred pounds was formerly given him by his father John Baker deceased

Item I give and bequeath unto the poore of the Towne of Faversham aforesaid Forty shillinges to bee payd unto them by my Executrix aforesaid within Six weekes next after my decease

Item I give unto my Sister Warden Tenn pounds part of the Twenty pounds I had of my Brother James Baker his widdow in the behalf of my Sister Warden Whereof shee hath had the other Tenn pounds allwayes

This is the last will and Testament of mee the said John Baker concerninge the disposeinge of my lands

Item I give and devise unto my loveing Wife Martha All my lands lyeing in Egerton and Hedcorne called by the name of Homersham lands duringe the terme of her naturall life And if shee bee nowe with Child then I will the same lands after her decease to the child or children that shee nowe goweth with and his her or theire heire or heires for ever

Item I give my loveing wife the profitt of the hundred pounds that Thomas Milles is to pay mee untill after the decease of my mother that shee can call it agayne To have and to hould all the said lands to my wife duringe the terme of her naturall life without (scribble!) [impeachment] of wast [waste]

And if shee bee nowe with Child then my will and minde is that if that Child or Children live untill hee shee of they come to his her or their age of one and Twenty Yeares that then it shall after my Wive�s decease come to him her or them and to his her or their heires for ever

Item my will & minde is that if my wife bee not nowe with child that then my Brother Michell after my wifes decease shall have all my lands abovesaid To have and to hold to him & his heires for ever Upon Condicon hee paye my Brother Ralf half the p�fitt thereof soe long as hee the said Ralf shall live

Item I will that if my wife bee with Child that the hundred pounds that Thomas Milles hath shalbe payd by my Executrix after it cann bee called in to the child that she is nowe with, which if it bee a man child at his age of one and Twenty yeares and if it bee a Mayd child at her age of Eighteene yeares And if shee bee with Child of both man child and Mayd child then to bee equally paid to them at their ages abovesaid or to the longer liver of them at their age or ages abovesaid

And if shee bee not with Child then my Will is that shee pay Twenty pounds pte [part] of the said hundred pounds to my Brother Ralf And other twenty pounds pte thereof to my Brother Nicholas And other Twenty pounds pte thereof to my Brother Michell within half one yeare after shee shall receave the said hundred pounds

Item I give and devise unto my Brother Michell and his heires for ever my house at Faversham late purchased of John Croft which I nowe live in Uppon Condicon hee pay Fiftye pounds unto Martha my Sister Warden�s daughter at her age of Fourteene yeares if shee bee then liveinge and if shee bee dead at that tyme then if he pay to the rest of my Sister Wardens Children then liveinge equally to be devided amongest them the said Fiftye pounds as beqeathed aforesaid or els [else] the house to bee her or theires and their heires for ever

In Witness whereof I have heerunto sett my Seale to this third and last Sheete of paper the daye and yeere aforesaid John Baker

Postscript
that uppon the lastday of January 1640(1) before the ensealing of this my will I give and devise all my lands unto my Daughter Mary when shee shall accomplishe her age of Eighteene yeeres and to her heires for ever shee paydinge [paying] my wife half the p�fitt of all my lands after her said age dureinge the naturall life of my said wife

Item I give Twenty shillinges unto the widdow Deerelove
And Twenty shillinges unto Sara Erres besides their wages for their paynes & care in nurseinge me in my Sickenes
