Item I give unto my Daughter Mary Baker the full and just sume of five hundred pounds of lawfull money of England to be paid by mine Executor to her the said Mary at her age of twentie yeares or to the heires of her body lawfully begotten before shee accomplish the full terme of twentie yeares which said sume of Five hundred pounds of Lawfull English money I doe give unto the said Mary Baker and her heires at the time aforesaid to be paid to her or them in manner following
First I give her and them fortie pounds of lawfull money due to me from Mr. Henry Wallis of Ashford Lynnen draper
And ten pounds of like lawfull money to me due by Bond from Thomas Hodges of Warehorne aforesaid Yeoman
And ten pounds of like lawfull money of England due to me by Bond from Richard Curd of Warehorne aforesaid Yeoman
Also two hundred and Fiftie pounds of like lawfull money of England I give in like manner due to me from John Knight of Lidd [Lydd] in the Countie
aforesaid Gent. [Gentleman] as appears by mortgage long since made by him to mee
And lastly for the full compleating of my said gift of Five hundred pounds I doe give and bequeath to my said daughter Mary and to her heires as aforesaid one peece or parcel of Marshland scituate in Brookland in the Countie aforesaid conteyning by estimacon fourteene acres more or lesse purchased of Mr. Timothy Rooke of Hartlipp gent. and now in the Occupacon of John Marsh of Brookland aforesaid which said land I give to my daughter Mary and to her heires lawfully begotten of her body forever
Item I give unto John Baker my sone and heirs all my other lands in Brooklands, Warehorne and Orlestone and all lands tenements and woodlands whatsoever scituate in the parishes aforesaid or else where not before bequeathed Excepting out of the said lands and hereditamts [hereditaments] and tenemts [tenements] the full value of twentie pounds of lawfull money of England yearlie which by these presents I give and bequeath unto Margaret my loveing Wife (during the terme of her natural life only) yearly
Item I give unto my said loveing Wife Margaret the sume of twelve pounds of lawfull money of England p�sently [presently] after my death to be paid to her by mine Executor to buy her clothes at my funerall
Also I give six pounds of lawfull money of England to my daughter Mary Baker over and above what (is) before bequeathed to her to be paid p�sently to her after my death by mine Executor to buy her Cloaths for to wear at my funerall
And I doe make Thomas Hodges my good friend of Warehorne in the Countie aforesaid the sole
Executor of this my last will and Testament
And I constitute and appoint Mr. Asherst, Rector of Warehorne Overseer of this my last will and Testament
But if the said Thomas Hodges refuse the Executorship or goe not on legally in his owne person to execute thus my said last will,
I doe then make Mr. Asherst aforesaid Overseer to be the sole Executor of this my last will and Testament
And I doe give unto the said Mr. Asherst fortie shillings of lawfull English money to preach my funerall sermon
And I doe also give Fortie shillings of lawfull money to the eldest sonne of John Wraith of the
parish of Rucking [Ruckinge] in the countie aforesaid in one months time after my decease to be paid by mine Executor
And if it please God that my sonne John Baker die without heires of his body lawfully begotten my will is that after the decease of Margaret my Wife (shee haveing for her life time twentie pounds by the yeare as aforesaid) that Mary my daughter shall have and enioy [enjoy] all the said lands and tenemts bequeathed to the said John to her and her heires for ever

Notes:
Nicholas Baker died and was buried on 11th April 1665 at St. Matthew, Warehorne.
Nicholas Baker�s children mentioned in the above Will (Mary and John) have not been found �
presumably because they were born during the Commonwealth?
Nicholas Baker was christened at Warehorne on 4th March 1612, s. of John Baker.
His siblings (all christened at Warehorne): 2 Jul 1612 Jane; 16 Oct 1614 Elizabeth; 22 Jun 1617 Margaret
(Bu: 27 Oct 1617); 25 Jul 1619 John; 29 Jan 1624 Margaret.
John Baker had married Elizabeth Jones, both of Warehorne on 7th October 1607 at St. Paul, Canterbury by Licence.
