Item I give and devise to my Loveing Sone John Baker all that my Messuage or Tenement with
the Garden Backside and appurts. [appurtenances] scituate and being in the p�ishe of Holy Cros
in Westgate neer and without the Walls of the Citty of Canterbury in the County of Kent and
now in my said sons own pacon [possession] And allso all that my other Messuage with the
garden Backside and appurts. Scituate and being in the said p�ish of Holy Cross Westgate and
now in the occupacon of ________ Golden * [blank space, not filled in]
To have and to hold the said Messuages and p�misses with the appurts. to my said Son John
Baker and the heires of his body lawfully begotten
And for want of such heires Then I give the said Messuage with the appurts. in the occupacon of my said Son unto and amongst all the
children of my daughter Mary nowe the Wife of Isaac Vile and their heires equally to be devided
And the other Messuage with the appurts. in the occupacon of _______ Golden for want of such heires I give to all the
Children of my daughter Ann now the Wife of John Shrubsole and their heires equally to be divided amongst them
Item I further give and devise unto my said Son John Baker all that my other Messuages with
the Garden backside and appurts. Scituate and being in the said p�ish of Holy Cross Westgate
aforesaid and nowe in the Occupacon of Charles Ruck To have and to hold the said last
mentioned Messuage with the appurts. to my said Son John Baker and his heires for ever
charged nevertheless and chargeable with the payment of the Sume of three pounds of lawfull
money of England to my said Daughter Mary wife of the said Isaac Vile and to Margaret Vile
my Grandaughter and there assigns yearely and every yeare dureing the terme of their naturall
lives and Life of the longest liver of them payable at the four most usual feasts or dayes in the
yeare (that is to say) at the feast of, the Birth of our Lord Christ, the Annunciacon of the Blessed
Virgin Mary, the Nativity of St. John the Baptist and St. Michaell the Arch Angell by even
porcons quarterly to be paid
And from and after the decease of my said Daughter and Granddaughter Vile and the longest liver of them Then I Give the said sume of three pounds p. Annum And to the heires of the body of the said Margaret Vile my Grandaughter for ever And for want of such heires Then I give thirty shillings Pt And P�cell [Part and Parcel] of the said three pounds p. Annum And unto and amongst all the children of my said Daughter Ann Shrubsole lawfully begotten and to be begotten for ever
And if it shall the said sume of three pounds p. [per Annum] And or the said thirty shillings p. And to be behind and not paid by the Space of one and twenty dayes next after any of the said dayes of payment on which as aforesaid the same out to be paid That then and soe often I do hereby give full power unto my said Daughter and Grandaughter Vile and their Assignes And to such other p�son and p�sons to whom the same shall descend and come by virtue of this my will respectively to enter into my said last menconed Messuage withe occupacon of the said Charles Ruck and to destriane for the Same and every pte [part] thereof and the distress and distresses then and there had and found lawfully from thence to take and carry away and the same to detaine and keep untill the said three pounds p. And thirty shillings p. And all the costs and charges in that behalfe sustained shall be fully satisfied and paid
Item I give and devise unto my said daughter Ann wife of John Shrubsole all that my Messuage or Tenement with the garden backside and appurts. Scituate and being in the said p�ish of Holy Cross Westgate and now in the occupacon of ______ Kedman To have and to hold the said last menconed Messuage with the apurts. to my said Daughter Ann and the heires of her body lawfully begotten and to be begotten for ever And for want of such heires I give the said Messuage and p�misses last menconed to and amongst all the children of my said Daughter Mary wife of the said Isaac Vile and their heires equally to be divided
Item I give and devise to my said Daughter Mary Vile all that my Messuage with the garden Backside and appurts. Scituate and being in the said p�ish of Holy Cross Westgate in a certain Lane there called North Lane and now in the occupacon of the said Isaac Vile To have and to hold the said Messuage and p�mises last menconed to my said Daughter Mary and her assignes for & dureing the terme of her natuall life and after her decease I give the said Messuage last menconed unto all and every the children of my said Daughter Mary Vile and their heires equally to be divided amongst them
Item I give and bequeath unto my said Grandaughter Margaret Vile the small oaken chest now standing in the dwelling house of my said Son John Baker and all the Linnen and other things being in the said Chest withall the Rings and Money being in the said box to be dilivered to my said Grandaughter Margaret by my Executor within one month next after my decease
Item I give to my said Grandaughter Margaret Vile the Sume of five pounds of lawfull money of England to be paid he by my Executors hereinafter named when she shall attain the age of one and twenty yeares or day of marriage which shall fyrst happen And in the meantime my will and desire is that the said five pounds shall be putt out at Interest upon good Security and soe continued for the sole benefitt of my said Grandaughter
Item I give to the three children of my said daughter Ann the wife of the said John Shrubsole forty shillings apeece to be paid them by my said Executors [when] they shall severally attaine the age of one and twenty years or dayes of marriage which shall first happen And in the meanetyme My will is that their said Legacys be put out at Interest for the sole Benefitt of my said Grandchildren respectively
Item I give to my loveing wife my bed with the bedsted curtaines Vallances and all the furniture to the same whereon I usually lye
And lastly I make or [and] ordaine my said loveing Son John Baker full and sole Executor of this my last Will and testament desiring him to see this my last will truely performed according to my true intent and meaning herein before declared and expressed

George Baker married �An� Coyse (sic) 6 Oct 1654 at SS Peter & Paul, Boughton-under-Blean
(near Canterbury). Their children (all at Holy Cross, Canterbury):
5 Oct 1656 Elisabeth; 15 Oct 1658 Mary (Bu: not found); 25 Jul 1660 John (Bu: not found); 6 Oct 1662 Ann;
31 Aug 1664 Joseph; 31 Aug 1664 Mary; 5 May 1667 John; 27 Jul 1670 Martha.
Daughter Mary Baker, virgin and Isaac Vile (File), Widower were married on 15th June 1684 at St. Nicholas, Thanington. Both were of Holy Cross, Westgate (Canterbury).
Daughter Ann Baker, Widow (?) of Westgate, Canterbury, married John Shrubsole, Yeoman, Widower of Chartham, at Selling on 24th July 1690. Ann was not a Widow, as best as I can tell.
George Baker is possibly the son of Robert Baker, christened 7th April 1634 at Sturry.
Robert Baker, Widower, Tailor of Chislet, married Margaret Butler, Widow of John Butler of
Chislet on 2nd July 1630 at St. Margaret, Canterbury. Robert Baker had previously married
Catherine Hill, Widow, on 12th August 1627 at Chislet.
George�s siblings: Alyce, Mary, Thomas, Robert, Francis.
George Baker died and was buried 28th November 1697 at Holy Cross, Westgate (Canterbury).
Ann Baker died and was buried 26th June 1691, Wife of George, also at Holy Cross, Westgate.
