In the name of God Amen
I John Baker of the parish of Acris {Acrise] in the County of Kent Carpenter being now of Sound memory (praised be God for it) although sick in Body do make and ordaine my last Will & Testament in manner and forme following
[First and] Principally I Comitt my Soule to the mercy of Almighty God my creator hoping through the merits of my Saviour Jesus Christ to have forgiveness of all my Sins and to inherit Eternall Life and my Body I will to be decently interred with Christian Buriall at the discretion of my Executor herein after named and as to my Worldly Estate wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me I give and bequeath the same as Followeth (that is to say)

First I give and bequeath unto William Foreman and Margaret Foreman Infante Children of my late dec�d [deceased] Sister Elizabeth and to Each of them the said William and Margaret the full Sume of Fifty pounds apeece of Good and lawfull money of Great Britain at their Respective Ages of one and Twenty years

And in case Either of them the said Children shall happen to depart this Life before he or she shall respectively attaine to that age Leaving at Such time of his or her decease no Lawfull Issue of his or her body then living my Will and meaning is That then the Said Legacy of Such of them So dying Without such Issue Shall be had and enjoyed by the Survivor of them at his or her like age of one and twenty years

But my Will is that if Either or both of them the said William and Margaret Foreman Shall depart this life before he or she shall respectively attain to that age Leaving Such Issue of his or her Body then living That then the Surviving Child or Children of them the said William and Margaret and of each of them Shall respectively have and Enjoy the Said Legacy of his or her Father or mother when such last mentioned Child or Children Shall arrive at his her or their respective Age or Ages of one and Twenty years

And do will that the Same Shall be paid Accordingly and my meaning is that my Executor hereinafter named Shall Enjoy the whole Interest and benefitt of Such Legacy & Legacies untill the Same shall become payable as aforesaid

Item I give and bequeath all and Singular the Rest Residue & remainder of my Goods Chattells and personal Estate wtsoever [whatsoever] after my Debts funerall Expences and the charges of proving this my Will Shall be first paid unto my Loving Brother Thomas Baker whome I doe make constitute and appoint Sole Executor of this my Last Will and Testament

Whereunto I have sett both my hand and Seale this Twentieth day of February in the Third year of his Maitie [Majesty] King Georges Reigne Anno Din 1716 [1717]

His parents: John Baker 29, Widower, Yeoman of Acrise married Elizabeth Broad, 30 of Acrise at St. Mary Bredin, Canterbury on 10th November 1691 by Licence.
Children (all christened at Acrise):
Thomas 22 Jan 1691 (to John and Sara); then: Elizabeth 1 May 1692; John 14 Apr 1695 (both to John and Elizabeth).

Sister Elizabeth Baker married William Foreman by Licence on 25th August 1709 at Acrise. He was of Elham; She was otp.
Their Children: 12 Nov 1710 Margret at St. Mary, Elham; 12 May 1713 William.
