I George Evans Baker of Queenborough in the County of Kent do make this my last Will and Testament this twenty fifth day of February 1815 in the fifty fifth year of George the Third
After all my just Debts & Funeral expences are paid which I hereby order & direct shall not exceed thirty pounds as I will have no parade whatsoever but decently & privately Interred without a Sermon

I give unto my Grandson George Iles Baker when he shall have attained the age of twenty one years the twenty houses situate in Queenborough aforesaid with the Gardens and Appurtenances thereunto belonging & the several Sheep Leases* & one quarter of a Sheep Lease or Pasture for one hundred & seventy four Sheep on Queenborough Green or Common & now in the Occupation of myself, Mr. John Marshall, Stephen Hobday, William Stamp, Robert Gaskin, William Brightman, Isaiah Marks, George Torn?, Thomas Morris, William Coulter, William Cole, John Ost, Samuel Ost, William Dod, William Needham, James Kemp, Richard Hicks Taylor, Thomas Griffin, Rebecca Hughes, Godfry Johnson, Robert Holbrook, Joseph Fawknell? West
paying Mrs. Frances Evans Widow of my Friend Admiral John Evans deceased out of the aforesaid Estate Forty pounds a year for her naturall life agreable to an agreement made between us dated 17 day of March 1795
* Sheep Lease = Here, a farmer enters into a lease agreement with the trustees whereby the livestock is leased to a trust. The lease agreement provides that the trust must return the same number of livestock to the farmer at the end of the period of the lease. The rent payable is equal to the cost of labour and other costs incurred to maintain the livestock. All offspring of the leased livestock belong to the trust. When the farmer requires money at any stage, he or she instructs the trustees to sell the livestock subject to the lease on his or her behalf.

Also the Meadows containing ten acres in the Parish of Minster in Mr. John Marshall’s Occupation
also the Farm formaly two now one called Church Farm or Little Paradise (in) the Parish of Leysdown also in the Occupation of Mr. John Marshall
unto my Grandson George Iles Baker when he shall have attained the age of twenty one years to him & his heirs for ever

I also give unto my Grandson George Iles Baker all Money & Security for Money that shall be owing me at my death & all my Furniture Plate Chinas Linen Wine

I likewise empower my Exors [Executors] hereinafter named to sell the whole or any part of my Estate if it can be done to the benefit and advantage of my Grandson George Iles Baker

I also give the Money that the Friendly Society Club pay upon the death of a Member unto all the Freeman’s Widows that are resident within the Borough of Queenborough at my decease equally to be divided between them, this Money is not to be distributed until my Exors. receive it from the Trustees of the Friendly Society Club

If my Grandson George Iles Baker departs this life before he has attained the age of twenty one years I then give to Mr. John Marshall all that Farm called Church Farm or Little Paradise in the Parish of Leysdown aforesaid & to him & his heirs for ever
I also give if my Grandson George Iles Baker departs this life before he has attained the age of twenty one years six hundred pounds of good & lawful Money of Great Britain to the Children that shall be living at my decease of John & Mary Pelling of the Parish of Finsbury in the County of Kent to be paid them in six Months after the decease of Mrs. Frances Evans Widow to be equally divided between them share and share alike

I also give if my Grandson George Iles Baker departs this life before he has attained the age of twenty one years the sum of one hundred pounds To Anne Blackmore of the Parish of Rainham in the County of Kent Widow to be paid her in six Months after the death of Mrs. Frances Evans Widow

I likewise give if my Grandson George Iles Baker departs this life before he has attained the age of twenty one years to be conveyed by my Exors. in six Months after the death of Mrs. Frances Evans Widow To the Mayor Recorder Juratts & Bailiffs of the Borough of Queenborough & their Successors all the four houses Gardens & Appurtenances thereunto belonging now in the Occupation of Robert Gaskin, William Brightman, Isaiah Marks and George Cary? with one Sheep Lease or Pasture for twenty four Sheep on Queenborough Green or Common thereunto belonging now in the occupation of [blank space] West
that they may receive the Rents after deducting the Wall Cess or Scot for necessary repairs which shall be at their discretion unto the resident Minister of the Parish Church of Queenborough the Sum remaining for his use & benefit during the time he shall reside in Queenborough & perform the duty of his Office by preaching twice every Sunday in the Parish Church of Queenborough or if neglects & does not perform the duty to the satisfaction of my Trustees viz. Mayor Recorder Juratts & Bailiffs for the time being or the major part of them (then it shall be lawful for the Mayor Recorder Juratts & Bailiffs or the Major part of them to pay the remaining part of the rent intended for the Clergyman to the resident Freemen Widows of the Borough of Queenborough in equal shares until a resident Minister will perform the duty of his Office to the satisfaction of the Trustees & agreable to my wishes)

I give unto Mrs. Dinah Marshall one hundred pounds to be paid her in six Months after my decease
All other my Goods Property & Estate not particularly disposed of I give if my Grandson George Iles Baker departs this life before he has attained the age of twenty one years unto Dinah Marshall aforesaid & her heirs for ever

I give & bequeath Fifty pounds of lawful Money of Great Britain to be paid by my Exor. within six Months after my decease unto the Mayor Recorder Juratts & Bailiffs of the Borough of Queenborough In Trust that the Interest thereof to be laid out in Beef and Bread & distributed on St. Thomas Day every year under the direction of the Mayor Recorder Juratts & Bailiffs or the Major part of them

I hereby appoint Mr. John Marshall Phillip Douglass Firmin my Executors & beg them to accept the sum of twenty Guineas each for the trouble this Will may give them dated the day and year first above written

Proved at London 16th May 1816 before the Worshipful Samuel Rush Meyrick Dr. of Laws & Surr(ogate) by the Oaths of John Marshall and Philip (in the Will written Phillip) Douglas Firmin the Exors. to whom administration was granted being first sworn duly to Administer.

George Evans Baker was buried at Holy Trinity, Queenborough on 27th November 1815 aged 82 years.
